5162 Confirm Street ImprovementsORDINANCE NO. 5162 (First published in the Salina Journal 1/0 1946) i All ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construc- tion Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering and gradi..g improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Rection 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, of the proposal of H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on May 6, 1946, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the city by its Mayor on May 6, 1946, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, to -wits Curbing, guttering and grading of Eighth Street from the north line of Hamilton Street to the south line of Antrim, Street, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144. Curbing, Cuttering and grading of Seventh Street from the south line Of Hamilton Avenue to the north line of Otis Avenue, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144. Curbing,guttering and grading of Charles Street from the west line of Twelfth Street to the east line of Phillips Street, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144• Curbing, guttering and grading of Arthur Avenue from the north line of North Street to the south line of Lincoln Avenue, as provided in Ordinance No. 5144. Curbing, guttering and grading of Garfield Avenue from the north line of North Street to the south line of Lincoln Avenue, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144. Curbing, guttering and gfading of Grant Avenue from the north line of North Street to the south line of Lincoln Avenue, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144. Curbing, guttering and grading of Lincoln Avenue from the east line of Grant Street to the west line of Arthur Avenue, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144. Curbing, guttering and grading of North Street from the east line of Front Street to the west line of Arthur Avenue, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144. Curbing, guttering and grading of Seventh Street from the north line of Lincoln Avenue to the south line of Decatur Street, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144. Curbing, guttering and grading of Charles Street from the west line of Phillips Street to the east line of Montrose Avenue, as provided by Ordinance No. 5144, at and for the unit prices for said work contained in said proposal, which pro- posal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the smae is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said con - tractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which is hereb.,., referred to and made parts of this ordinance. 1 1 1 I Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the mann er and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 4' per cent per annum and to mature not later than September 1, 1946, and to be issued in such amounts and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
