AJ ORDINANCE relating to and regulating taxicabs and taxicab fares and amending
Section No, 28 of Ordinance No. 4952 as amended by Section 2 of Ordinance
No. 5008 as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 5017 as amended by Ordinance
No. 5026 and No. 5059, and repealing said original section as amended.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 28 of Ordinance No. 4952 as amended by Section 2 of
Ordinance No. 5008 as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 5017 as amended by
Ordinances No. 5026 and No. 5059, be and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 28. That the rates and fares for the transportation of passengers
in taxicabs licensed by the City of Salina for trips within the City of Salina,
and where the point of origin or destination, or both, of the trip is within the
City of Salina, shall be as follows:
a. For trips within Zone 1, which is all of the territory within the
City Limits bounded on the north by Pacific Street, on the south by Crawford
Avenue, on the west by Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks, and on the east by
Ohio Street, (and the projections of such streets), 25� for first passenger
and 15X for each additional passenger on and off at the same place.
b. For tries where the point of origin or destination, or both, is in
Zone 2, which is all of the City of Salina outside of Zone 1, 35¢ for first
passenger and 15� for each additional passenger on and off at the same place.
c. For trips to and from the Union Station, 25¢ for each passenger in
Zone 1 and 25¢ for each passenger in Zone 2.
d. For trips to the Air Base, 75X for first passenger and 25� for each
additional passenger.
e. For trips to Municipal Airport, 75� for first passenger and 25/ for
each additional passenger.
f. For hire -by -the -hour, $2.00 per hour.
g. For special cab (no passenger other than those accompanying the hirer),
50� within the city limits.
h. Extra charge for luggage or parcels when accompanied by passenger;
extra charge for luggage over two pieces of ordinary hand luggage, for each two
extra pieces of hand luggage, same charge as for additional passenger. For each
extra large parcel (not carried in arras of passenger) same charge as for additional
passenger.
No more than six passengers can be carried in any cab in one trip at any
one time. Not more than two passengers shall ride in the f vont seat. First
passenger in cab is entitled to first delivery unless he consents to delivery of
other passengers first, and no luggage or parcels shall be carried in the front
seat with the driver which will obstruct the driverts vision.

If two or more persons in a taxicab with different destination points, the

passengers shall be delivered to their destinations in the order of their entry
into the cab unless the passenger entitled to prior delivery consents to prior
delivery of other passenger.
Every taxicab shall have posted in a conspicuous place i^rithin the cab a card
showing the rates provided herein and license number and name of the owner and
driver, printed or in type sufficiently large to be readable by passenger.
Any charge made to passenger at rate other than those fixed in this Ordinance
or any failure to cmmply with any provisions hereof, shall be deemed a violation
of this Ordinance and shall subject the driver and owner of the cab to cancella-
tion of their licenses at the discretion of the Board of Corunissioners."
Section 2. That Section No. 28 of Ordinance No. 4952 as amended by Section 2
of Ordinance No. 5008 as amened by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4017 as amended by
Ordinances No. 5026 and 5059, be and the same is hereby repealed.
Section 3 This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and
after its passage and publication in the official city paper.
