AN ORDINANCE ratifying and conf irming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction
Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in Lateral
Sanitary Sewer Districts No. 192, 196 and 197 in the City of Salina, and providing
for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the issuance
and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the ooard of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the proposal of H. J.
Taylor, d/b/a the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the
"contractor", as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on the sixteenth day of October,
1944, which is hereby found and determined to be the lowest and be4tbid for such work,
and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor
and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on October 16, 1944, for the construction
of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, to -exit:
A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit district No. 192, being Lots 1 to
20 inclusive of blocks 43 and 48 Military Addition, Reimold's Replat; Lots 2 and 11,
Block 2, Tucker Park Addition; Lots 23 to 36 inclusive, Reimold's Addition in the City
of Salina, Saline County, Kansas, as provided in Ordinance No. 5058, and beginning at
an existing manhole in the intersection of Harsh Avenue and the alley between Tenth
and Eleventh, thence north in the alley as an 8" sewer a distance of 1427 feet more or
less, to a flush tank in said alley near Inez Avenue.
A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit district No. 196, being Lets 1 to 10
inclusive, 13 and 14, and 18 to 21 inclusive of Block 1, Evergreen Park Addition, Lots
1 to 11 inclusive of Block 1, Evergreen Park Addition Replat Lots 1 to 4 inclusive,
Block 4, Evergreen Park Addition. "11 in the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas,
as provided in Ordinance No. 5066, beginning at an existing manhole in the alley between
vlaflin and Kirwin approximately 106 feet east of property line of Pershing and 3 feet
east of the lot line of Lot 2, Beverly Aknor Addition; thence south parallel to and 3
feet east of Lots 2, 3 and 4 Beverly Manor Addition as an 8" sewer a distance of 165 feet
more or less, to a manhole in Claflin Avenue; thence east along Claflin Avenue 118 feet,
more or less, to a manhole at the intersection of Claflin and Eleventh; thence south in
Eleventh Street 169 feet, more or less, to a manhole at the alley between Claflin and
Woodlawn thence east 727 feet to a manhole at the intersection of alleys between Claflin
and Woodlawn and Ninth and Eleventh; thence north and south in alley 68 feet, more or less,
each direction as a 6" sewer to dead ends.
A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit district No. 197, being lots 5, 6, 13
and 14. Block 2, Evergreen Park Addition; Lots 1 to 26 inclusive, Block 2, Evergreen Addition
Replat Lots 1 to 4 inclusive, Block 3, Evergreen Park Addition. All in the City of Salina,
Saline County, Kansas, as provided in Ordinance No. 5066, beginning at a manhole at the
intersection of Eleventh Street and alley between Claflin Avenue and Woodlawn on lateral
sanitary sewer No. 196; thence south in Eleventh Street as an 8* sewer 330 feet, more or
less, to a manhole at the intersection of alley south of woodlw , tnenee east in alley
727 feet, more or less, to a manhole at the intersection of alleys north and south and
east and west; thence north and south in alley 68 feet, more or less, each direction as a
6" sewer to dead ends.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal
! and contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this Ordinance, be and the
sane is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated
cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on
file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and
made a part of this Ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer on file in
the office of theCity Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor
and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made
parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes sighed by the Mayor and attested by the
City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and
form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price
for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 42 percent per annum and
to mature not later than April 16, 1945, and to be issued in such amounts and at such
timeas money for the payment of the cost of such work may be required, such notes to
be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time tkwt
permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication in the official city paper.

as an 8" sewer 330 feet, more or less, to a manhole at the intersection of alley south
of Woodlawn; thence east in alley 727 feet, more or less, to amanhole at the inter-
section of alleys north and south and east and west; thence north and south in alloy
68 feet, more or less, each direction as a 6" sewer to dead ends.
