i AN ORDINANCE providing for the repaving of a portion of Ash Street in the City of
Salina, lying between Columbia Avenue and Kansas Avenue and providing for
the cost of such improvement by the City of Salina at large and for the
issuance of general improvement bonds of said city to pay such cost.

WHEREAS, by ordinances duly passed and published for the repairing of a certain
portion of the main sanitary sewer and appurtenances thereto in Ash Street in the
City of Salina lying between Columbia Avenue and Kansas Avenue, and
WHEREAS, contract has been let and work completed for the repair of said sanitary
sewer and appurtenances and it is now necessary that a portion of the paving in
Ash Street between Columbia Avenue and Kansas Avenue be relaid; NOW TREREFORE

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Aansass
Section 1. That it is necessary and it is hereby ordered that a portion of
/Ash Street between Columbia Avenue and Kansas Avenue in said city be repaved and
recurbed and guttered and excavated to such extent as may be necessary.
Section 2. For the work and improvements herein provided for the City
Engineer shall make and file with the City Clerk on or before the 5th day of June
1944 complete plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the repaving and
recurbing and guttering and excavating of Ash Street between Columbia Avenue and
Kansas Avenue in said city with material approved by the Board of Commissioners
including the followings approximately 870 square yards of paving; 166 lineal
feet of curb and gutter and 190 cubic yards of excavation.
Section 3. That after such plans and specifications shall have been made
and prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk, as aforesaid,
the Board of Commissiohers may advertise by advertisement published in the official
city paper of Salina, Kansas, for three consecutive days for the receipt of sealed
proposals for the improving of said street with the kind of material named and
specified in the preceding section hereof and for the excavating and grading nec-
essary for the completion of such work and after the receipt of such proposals
the said Board of Commissioners may and are hereby authorized to let contracts
for the improving of said street with the material selected by them to the lowest
responsible bidder therefore as determined by said Board of Commissioners and for
such improvement. Said Board of Commissioners reserve the right to reject any and
all bids.
Section 4. For the purpose of paying for the work and improvements in this
ordinance provided for, the Board of Commissioners are hereby authorized and directed
to issue internal improvement bonds of the City of Salina in an amount not to exceed
the contract price of such improvements and to run for a period of 4 years and to be
paid in r approximately equal instalments together with interest not to exceed two
per cent per annum which bonds shall be made payable to the fiscal agency of the
State of Kansas and for the purpose of paying principal and interest on said bonds
as they severally become due and payable.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and
after its publication once in the official city paper.
