5032 Salaries1 1 ORDINANCE NO, 5032 (Published in the Salina Journal % 1943 AN ORDINANCE relating to and fixing the salaries and wages of certain officers and employees of the City of Salina and repealing Urdinanee No. 5029 and original Sections 3 and 4 of Ordinance 5025. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That from and after July 1, 1943, the salaries and wages to be paid to the officers and employees of the City of Salina mentioned in this ordinance shall be the amounts set forth in the following secticns of this ordinance: Section 2. POLICE DEPARTMENT (a) The monthly salary of the Chief of Police shall be - - - - #225.00 (b) The monthly salaries of the Police Captain, Desk Sergeant and Record Clerk, Desk Sergeants, and of first class patrolmen shall be fixed at the follow- ing base pay for such officers, to -wit: Captain - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $ 178.00 Desk Sergeant and Record Clerk - - - - - - - - - -- 175.00 Desk Sergeants - 4165.00; One Special Sergeant - 4159.00; First Class Patrolmen - 4160.00, plus an amount computed at the rate of $1.00 per month increase for each year of ser- vice, in excess of five years, served by any such officer on the Police Department, which rate of increase shall con- tinue until such officer shall have served for a period of twenty years on the Police Department, at which time such increase shall cease. (c) Patrolmen who have served for less than five years shall be designated as :Second Class Patrolmen. They shall receive a monthly salary computed as follows; Not to'exceed $135.00 per month for the first six months, to be fixed by the City Manager at the time of employment, depending on the experience and ability of the employee, and such salary so fixed shall be increased $5.00 per month for the second six months and shall be $140.00 per month thereafter until such officer shall have served five years on the department; and at the expiration of such time he shall, if his services have been satisfactory, and if he is retained on the department and designated as a patrolman first class, his salary shall be fixed as provided by ordin- ance for Patrolmen First Class. (d) The Police Matron who shall also be caretaker of the City Restroom shall receive a monthly salary of - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -$ 20.00 (e) Any special police officers who may be commissioned by the City Manager and assigned to special duty shall be paid such amount for their services as may be fixed by the City Manager and not to exceed pay at the rate of $135.00 per month. Section 3. FIRE DEPARTMENT. The monthly salaries of officers and members of the Fire Department of the City of Salina shall be as follows: (a) Fire Chief - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - $ 225.00 (b) Two Assistant Fire Chiefs (c) One Fire Inspector - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- (d) Four Lieutenants--------- --------.. i (e) Firemen First Class - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (f) Three Operators (g) Firemen Sscond Class - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- (h) Firemen Third Class - Two at $135.00 and one at $130.00 165.00 160.00 155.00 $ 145.00 80.00 each 140.00 Section 4. PARK DEPARTIJENT. The monthly salary and wages of the Park Department shall be as followss Superintendent of Parks - - - - - - - - - - - - 185.00 Foreman, Oakdale Park - - - - - - - - - - - - - 150.00 Foreman, Thomas Park - - - - - - - - - - - - -- 145.00 Foreman, Sunset Park - - - - - - - - - - - - 145.00 Section 5. REPEAL. That ordinance No. 5029 and Sections 3 and 4 of Ordinance No. 5025 be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 6. They shall receive a monthly salary computed as follows: Not to exceed $135.00 per month for the first six months, to be fixed by the City tanager at the time of employment, depending on the experience and ability of the employee, and such salary so fixed shall be increased $5.00 per month for the second six months and shall be $140.00 per month thereafter until such officer shall have served five "Years on the department; and at the expiration of such time he shall, if his services have been satisfactory, and if he is retained on the department and designated as a patrolman first class, his salary shall be fixed as provided by ordinance for Patrolmen First Class.
