AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction
Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina,,
heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Number 225, 226, 227, 228,
229, 230, 231, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost
thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the proposal of
H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor", as
submitted to the Board of Commissioners on August 2, 1948, which is hereby found
to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board
of Dommissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City
by its Mayor on August 9th, 1948 for the construction of certain public improve-
ments in the City of Salina, to -wit:
(1) A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain
benefit district, being Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Number 225, as heretofore pro-
vided by Ordinance Number 5307, as follows:
Construction of an 8" V.C.P. Lateral_
Sanitary Sewer, with all necessary conn-
ections, manholes, flush tanks and other
appurtenances, beginning at an existing
manhole in the intersection of Lincoln
Avenue and Eighth Street, thence north in
the center of Eighth Street a distance of
600 feet to a manhole to be constructed in
said Eighth Street being the terminus of
said sewer.
(2) A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain
benefit district, being Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Number 226, as heretofore pro-
vided by Ordinance Number 5310, as follows:
Construction of an 8" V.C.P. Lateral
Sanitary Sewer, with all necessary conn-
ections, manholes, flush tanks and other
appurtenances, beginning at an existing
manhole which is on the center line of an
alley extended west, next north of Beloit
Avenue and 30 feet west of the east line
of Quincy Street; thence east in the cen-
ter of the right-of-way for utilities 1080
feet and terminating at a manhole to be
constructed at this point.
(3) A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain
benefit district, being Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Number 227, as heretofore pro-
vided by Ordinance Number 5315, as follows:
Construction of an 8" V.C.P. Lateral
Sanitary Sewer, with all necessary conn-
ections, manholes, flush tanks and other
appurtenances, beginning at a manhole to
be constructed at an existing 15 inch
V.C.P. sewer in Iron Avenue at the inter-
section with a north and south public
alley, extended north, which alley is
bmtween Second Street and Front Street;
thence south in the center line of said
alley as an 8 inch V.C.P. sewer with a
distance of 560 feet to a manhole to be
constructed, being the terminus thereof.

(4) a lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit dis-
trict, being Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 228, as
heretofore provided by Ordinance Number 5315, as
follows: Construction of an. 8" V.C.P. Lateral Sani-
tary Sewer, with all necessary connections, manholes,
flush tanks and other appurtenances, beginning at an
existing manhole in the intersection of Republic
Avenue and Third Street; thence north along the cen-
ter line of Third Street 290 feet as an 8" V.C.P.
sewer to a manhole to be constructed in said alley
being the terminus thereof.
(5) a lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit dis-
trict, being Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 229, as
heretofore provided by Ordinance Number 5315, as
follows: Construction of an 8" V.C.P. Lateral Sani-
tary Sewer, with all necessary connections, manholes,
flush tanks and other appurtenances, beginning at
an existing manhole in Quincy Street which is 50 feet
east of the west line of Quincy Street and on center
line of east and west public alley north of Claflin
Avenue; thence west in the center line of said alley
505 feet as an 8" V.C.P. sewer to a manhole to be
constructed in said alley being the terminus there-
of.
(6) a lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit dis-
trict, being Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 230, as
heretofore provided by Ordinance Number 5320, as
follavrs: Construction of an 8" V.C.P. Lateral Sani-
tary Sewer, with all necessary connections, manholes,
flush tanks and other appurtenances, beginning at
an existing manhole 13 feet south of the center line
of Iron Avenue and 40 feet east of the west line of
Wisconsin Avenu e; thence south along a line 40 feet
east of the west line of Wisconsin Avenue 457 feet to
a point in the center line of Stapler Avenue to a
manhole to be constructed, being the terminus thereof.
(7) a lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit dis-
trict, being Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 231, as
heretofore provided by Ordinance Number 5322, as
follows: Construction of an 8" V.C.P. Lateral Sani-
tary Sewer, with all necessary connections, manholes,
flush tanks and other appurtenances, beginning at
an existing manhole that is 30 feet west of the
east line of Quincy Street and on the center line
extended of the alley north of Jewell Avenue; thence
west in said alley with an 8 inch V.C.P. sewer 500
feet where a manhole is to be constructed which is
the terminus thereof.
at and for the unit prices for said work contained in said proposal, which pro-
posal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be
and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the
estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City
Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby
referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file
in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said con-
tractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to
and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That Temporary Notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the
City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and
form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract

price for such work, such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 42 per cent per
annum and to mature not later than September 30th , 1949 and to be issued
in such amounts and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of such
work may be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeems
ed and cancelled at the time that permanent honds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in forcd from and
after its publication in the official city paper.
