Districts "K", it is impracticable and too expensive to excavate in connecting, such

Sect'_on 2. That the City engineer of the City of Salina s',call on or before the
24th day of November 1947, prepare and file in the office of the City Clerk, plans
and specifications for the construction of the pumping station provided for in
Section 1 of this ordinance v<hich shall be of the proper character and at the proper
location to pump the seg^ra e o" seid Sevier District "K" into the ruin sewer at present
existing in the intersection of Santa Fe and Bond Street, so as to conduct the se,.^ra_ e
from iaiin :Sewer District "K" and extensi,ns thereof to a po'_nt of outlet as a part
of the se-!m.Le dis)osal system of the City of Salina, Kansas, and s:zall on or before
said date Irrepare and submit to the Board of Cora:ii_ssioners under oath detailed esti::.ates
of the cost thereof and trat thereafter the City ',lerk shall advertise for tnree consecu-
tive days in the officiel city paper for sealed proposals for the building and con-
struction of such pumping station according to such plans and specifications, wnich
proposals shall. be filed with tare City Clerk on or b efore the time fixed in such
notice, at which ti e the Board of Coriissioners may let a contract for the building
and construction of such pumping station to the lowest and best responsible bidder
therefor; provided that such bids shall not exceed tae esti*gated cost tnereof and pro-
vided further that said Board s:_all reserve the richt to reject, any and all such pro-
posals and that if no res-)onsible bids snall be received within said estimated cost
said Board may proceed and build such ptuapinr stat=on i�.ithin si,ch estiznated cost.
Section 3. That for the payment of the cost of such work the building and con-
struction of said pumpin" station, the Board of Com,.-issioners of the City of xAlina,
Eansas, sna.11 issue improvement bonds of said city, in an amount not to exceed the
total cost of such work and improvements, to be payable in four approximately equal
annual installments and to bear interest at not toe xceed 5o per annum from the date

of suc# bonds, and for the purpose of paying; such bonds and interest as they severally

mature, the Board of Coi -.issioners shall annually levy a tax upon all real and personal
pro^ertl in tie City of Salina in an az::ount sufficient to pay the annual installments
of such principal and interest, and pending issue and sale of such bonds, temporary
notes shall be issued accordin- to law, to pay the cost of such work.
Section 4. That before the pumpint, station herein provided for shall be con-
structed, the nlans and specifications tnerefor shall first be submitted to the de-
partment of the Board of Health of the State of Kansas and be a -proved by such depart -
men t.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full "orce from and
after its publication in the official city paper.

AN ORDINANCE providing for the construction of a pumping station for the
purpose of pumping the sewage of Dain Sewer District "K" and extensions
thereof, into the existing sewer located in the intersection of Santa
Fe Avenue and Bond Street in order to conduct the sewage of wain Sewer
District "K" to a point of outlet, and providing for the payment of the
cost thereof.
7JUEREAS, the City of Salina has by ordinances provided for the construction,
maintenance and operation of its sewer system and of a itain Sanitary Sewer
in Main Sewer District "K" for the purpose of disposing of the sewage of the
city and such district, and
WHEREAS, on account of the elevation of the existing main sewers adjacent
to said Sewer Districts "K", it is impracticable and too expensive to ex-
cavate in connecting such main sewer in Dain Sewer District "K", with any.
other main sewer district or main intercepting sewer now existing, so as
to dispose of the sewage in said Main Sewer District "K", and

construction, operated and maintained in Main Sewer District "K", it is
necessary in the judgment of the governing body of the City of Salina to
construct a pumping station for the purpose of pumping the sewage of such
Main Sewer District "K" into the present existing gain sewer located in
the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Bond Street, in order to conduct
the sewage of said Dain Sewer District "K" to a point of outlet; NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of L'omLissloners of the City of Selina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the preambles hereof are hereby incorporated herein.
That a pumping station for the purpose of pumping the sewage of.ain Sewer
District "K" and the extensions thereof to the main sewer now existing in
the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Bond Street, be constructed in the
manner provided by law.
Section 2. That the City Engineer of the City of Salina shall on or
before the 24th day of November 1947, prepare and file in the
office of the City Clerk, plans and specifications for the construction
of the; pumping station provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance which
shall be of the proper character and at the proper location to pump the
sewage of said Sewer District "K" into the main sewer at present existing
in the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Bond Street, so as to conduct
the sewage from �:ain Sewer District "K" and extensions thereof to a point
of outlet as a part of the sewage disposal system of the City of Salina,
Kansas, and shall on or before said date prepare and submit to the Board
Of Commissioners under oath detailed estimates of the cost thereof and
that thereafter the City Clerk shall advertise for three consecutive days
in theofficial city paper for sealed proposals for the building and con-
struction of such pumping station according to such plans and specifications,
which proposals shall be filed with the City Clerk on or before the time
fixed in such notice, at which time the Board of Commissioners may let a
contract for the building and construction of such pumping station to the
lowest and best responsible bidder therefor; provided that such bids shall
not exceed the estimated cost thereof and provided further that said Board
shall reserve the right to reject any and all such proposals and that if no
responsible bids shall be received within said est9.nated cost said Board
may proceed and build such pumping station within such estimated cost.
Section 3. That for the payment of the cost of such work the building
and construction of said pumping station, the Board of Commissioners of the

mitted to the departiaent of the Board of Health of the Sate of Kansas and
be approved by such department.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from
and after its publication in the o"ficial city paper.
