alley between Santa Fe Avenue and Seventh Street from
Elm Street to a po nt 532 feet north of the north line
of Elm Street, as provided by Ordinance Number 5246.
at and for the unit prices for said work contained in said proposal, which pro-
posal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be
and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being wit)ain the
estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City
Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby re-
ferred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordaned
with the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer on file
in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said con-
tractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to
and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the blayor and attested by the
City Clerk be issued from time to ti::.e as the work progresses in the manner and
form as reluired by law, the total amount thereof not toe xceed the contract
price for such irrork, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 42 per cent per
annum and to mature not later than November 1, 1948, and to be issued in such
wiiounts and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of such work may be
required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and can-
celled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after
its publication in the official city paper.

Aid ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with Brown and Brown Construction
Co..pa.ny, Inc., for the construction and installation of certain paving and
grading- improvements on certain public alleys in the City of Salina, and
providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending
the issuance and sale of bonds.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Cormaissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. that the acceptance by the City of Salina, of the proposal of
Brown and Brown Construction Company, Inc., hereinafter referred to as the
"contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on September 8, 1947, which
is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract
avarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed
on behalf of the city by its Layor on September 29, 1947, for the construction of
certain public improvements in the City of Salina, to -grit:
(1) Paving and grading of a certain north and south pu:Ilie
