AN ORDIIFAN CE making regulations to protect the health of the public in the City of
Salina, and providing for the reluirement of persons and property owners
in said city to connect dtivellings and buildings to the setimr system of
said city; providing for notice of the necessity therefor to persons and
property o,=ers; providing that upon default after notice that said city
may cause such premises or buildings to be connected with said sewer system
and to contract for the installation thereof and providing that the costs
and expenses thereof may be assessed against the property so connected.
3E IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That persons and property owners owning dwelling houses or buildings
within the City of Salina, Kansas, which building or buildings are, or shall be, located
near a sewer, or in a block 1�rithin any such sev,rer district in said city through which
a sewer extends, are hereby requ'red to make such connectio.ls with said sewer system
of said
city, as may be necessary in
the jud`!:ient of the Board of Health
for the pro-
tection
of the health of the public,
for the purpose of disposing of all
substances
from any
such building affecting the
public health which may be lawfully
and properly
disposed of by means of such sewer.
Section 2. That in the event any person or persons shall fail or refuse to connect
any building or buildings Z-.rith the sevier system of said city as herein provided for,
for more than 10 days after being notified in writing by the Board of Health of said
city to do so, then the City of Salina, Kansas may cause such premises and buildings
to be connected Tid th said sewer system and said city is hereby authorized to advertise
for bids for the construction and making of such server connections, and to contract
therefor with the lov,,est responsible bidder or bidders, and to cause such premises to
be connected with said sewer system.
Section 3. That to pay the costs and expenses of such work the said city may
assess said costs and expenses against the property and premises so connected, such
assessment to be made in the same manner as other special assessments are made.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption., approval and publication once in the official paper.
