AN ORDIIdARTCE ratifying; and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction.
Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina,
heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Number 218 and 219, and
for the construction of a certain Main Sewer in Main Sewer District "W", heretofore
created,

issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of
bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the proposal of H. J.
Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor", as sub-
mitted to the Board of Commissioners on December 29, 1947, which is hereby found to
be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of
Commissioners of said City to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by
its Mayor on January 5, 1948, for the construction of certain public improvements
in the City of Salina, to -wit:
(1) A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain
benefit District, being Lateral Sani-
tary Sewer Number 218, as heretofore
provided by Ordinance Number 5265, as
follows: Construction of an 8" V.C.P.
Lateral Sanitary Sewer, with all nec-
essary connections, manholes, flush
tanks and other appurtenances, beginn-
ing at a manhole to be constructed in
the center of the intersection of Quincy
Street and a certain east and west pub-
lic alley, extended west, lying next
north of Russell Avenue, thence east in
the center of said east and west public
alley- to a manhole to be constructed at
the intersection of the center line of
said alley and the west line of Roach
Street, being; the terminus of said
sewer.
(2) A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain
benefit District, being Lateral Sani-
tary Sewer Number 219, as heretofore
provided by Ordinance Number 5265, as
follows: Construction of an 8" V.C.P.
lateral sanitary sewer, with all nec-
essary connections, manholes, flush
tanks and other appurtenances, beginn-
ing at a manhole to be constructed in
the center of the intersection of Quincy
Street and a certain east and west pub-
lic alley, extended west, lying next
north of Cloud Avenue, thence east in
the center of said east and west public
alley to a manhole to be constructed at
the intersection of the center line of
said alley and the west line of Roach
Street, being the terminus of said
sewer.
(3) A main sewer in a certain benefit district,
being Main Sewer District 'W', hs heretofore
provided for by Ordinance Number 5257, as
follows: Construction of a Main Sewer
District, together with all necessary conn-
ections, nanholes and other appurtenances, be
constructed and built along the following
described course within said district, beginn-
ing at an existing manhole at the east end of
the alle'v next north of Beloit Avenue between
Santa Fe Avenue and Fourth Street;. thence
east in the center of said alley north of
Beloit Street to a manhole to be constfucted
in the intersection of the center line of

of Quincy Street and the center line of said alley
north of Beloit Avenue extended east; thence south
in the center of Quincy Street 2310 fees, more or
less, to the intersection of the center line of
said Quincy Street and the center line of a certain
alley next north of Cloud t'venue extended, to a
manhole to be constructed, being the terminus of
Main Sewer "W"
at and for the unit prices for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal
and contract are hereby referred to and made Darts of this ordinance, be and the
same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated
cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on
file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereb•; referred to and
made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accorden ee
with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file
in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said
contractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred
to and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That Temporary Notes signed by the Tla.,yor and attested by the City
Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form
as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for
such work, such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and
to mature not later than April 30, 1949 and to be issued in such amounts and at such
time as money for the payment of the cost of such work may be required, such notes
to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the_time that
permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after
its publication in the official city paper.
