ORDINANCE NUMBER 91-9447
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SALINA CODE BY ENACTING
SECTION 25-8, PROHIBITING FORTUNE TELLING, PALMISTRY AND
CRANIOLOGY.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the city of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That Chapter 6 of The Salina Code is hereby amended by
adding Section 25-8, which shall read as follows:
"Section 25-8. Fortune telling, palmistry, craniology;
prohibited.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the
business of fortune telling, palmistry, craniology,
phrenology or clairvoyancy or in any other manner pretend
to tell fortunes or practice phrenology or craniology,
thereby pretending to disclose mental facilities of
individuals, for any money, gift, gratuity or other reward
or use the same in connection with any business enterprise
within the city.
(b) The terms of this section shall not apply to any
bonafide theatrical performance when the fortune teller,
palmist, phrenologist, clairvoyant or mind-reader is used for
entertainment purposes only, and regular admission is
charged therefor."
Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
