5402 Confirm Utility ImprovementsORDIWTCE NLMI ER 5 .02 (Published in the Salina Journal 1949) AA; ORDITvATdCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the 11. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 240, 241 and 242, and pro- viding for the issuance of temporarynotes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDA_P"TED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Saliha, Kansas: Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the proposal of the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor" as i submitted to the Board of Commissioners on June 27, 1949, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of i Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City of Salina by its Iiayor on July 11, 1949 for the construction of certain TI)ublic improve- ments in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: (1) A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit district being Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 240, as heretofore provided by Ordinance Number 5376, as follows: Const- ruction of an 8" V.C.P. Lateral Sanitary Sewer, with all necessary connections, manholes, flush tanks and other appurtenances, beginning at an existing manhole in Front Street which is 29 feet east of the west line of Front Street and 22 feet north of the south line of Woodland Avenue; thence west 159 feet on a line 22 feet north of the south line of Woodland Avenue to the center line of an alley, next east of Second Street, extended north, to a manhole to be constructed; thence south in the center line of said alley 532 feet to a manhole to be constructed being the south terminus of said sewer; and further beginning at said manhole to be constructed in Woodland Avenue thence due north 308 feet. (2) A Lateral Sanitary sewer in a certain benefit district being Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 241, as heretofore provided by Ordinance Number 5378, as follows: Construction of an 8't V.C.P. Lateral Sanitary Sewer, with all necessary connections, manholes, flush tanks and other appurtenances, beginning at an existing manhole in Eleventh Street on center line of first alley north of Cloud Street; thence west in center line of said alley 353 feet to the center line of Pershing street to a manhole to be constructed which will be the terminus of said sewer. (3) A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit district being lateral Sanitary Sewer District riumbeb 242, as heretofore provided by Ordinance Lumber 5378, as follows: Construction of an 8" V.C.P. Lateral Sanitary Sewer, with all necessary connections, manholes, flush tanks and other appurtenances, beginning at an existing manhole at the intersection of the center line of Pacific Avenue and the center line of the alley next east of Twelfth Street; thence north along center line of said alley 960 feet more or less to the center line of Hamilton Avenue at which location a manhole will be constructed which will be the terminus of said sewer. at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with thero osal of said contractor p p and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance. i Section 3. That temporary notes signed b;T the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in themanner and form as required by laze, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price l -or such work, such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 4- per cent per annum and to mature not later than December 30, 1950 and be issued in such amounts and at such times as money for the payment of the cost of such work may be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof. Section 4.
