AN ORDINANCE' ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construct'
Company for the construction of certain curbing,y ion
improvements on certain streets in the Cit of Salina, ands paving and grading
for the
issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pe ndingpthelissuance and sale
of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal

of the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Con-
tractor" as submmtted to the Board of Commissioners on August 30, 1948, which is
hereby found to be the lowest and beset bid for such work, and the contract
awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contract and signed
on behalf of the City by its Mayor on September 7, 1948 for the construction of
certain public improvemehts in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of
Nortbn Street from the north line of Claflin
Avenue to the north line of Kirwin Avenue
as provided by Ordinance Number 5326.
Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of
Quincy Street, from the north line of
x Claf 1 in Avenue to the north line of Kirwin
f Avenue, as provided by Ordinance Number
5326.
Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of
Woodland Avenue from the west line of Ninth
Street to the east line of Broadway Boulevard
as provided by Ordinance Number 5326.
at and for the unit prices for said work contained in said proposal, which
proposal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance,
be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within
the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the
City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby
referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer on file
in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said
contractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred
to and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the
Cit;cr Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner
and form provided and required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed
the contract price for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed
4- per cent per annum and to mature not later than hecerriber 1.,, 1

and to be issued in sudh amounts and at such times as money for the payment of
the cost of such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeamed
and cancelled at
the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.

Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the official city paper.
