AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AN AREA OF PROPERTY CONSISTING
OF APPROXIMATELY 10 ACRES LOCATED IN THE 800 BLOCK OF SOUTH
SANTA FE AVENUE FOR HISTORIC DISTRICT DESIGNATION.
Kansas:
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Section 1. That the structures located on the following described real
estate to wit:
The East one hundred thirty seven feet (137') of Lots Two
(2) and Four (4); Lot Six (6) and the North forty feet of
Lot Eight (8); South ten feet (10') of Lot Eight (8) and Lot
Ten (10) ; Lots Twelve (12) , Fourteen (14) , Sixteen (16) ,
Eighteen (18), Twenty (20), Twenty-two (22), Twenty-four
(24), Twenty-six (26), and Twenty-eight (28); East one
hundred forty-two and five tenths feet (142.51) of Lots
Thirty (30) and Thirty-two (32), Block 8, Bond's Addition
to the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas;
West one hundred twenty-seven and five tenths feet (127.5')
of Lot One (1) and Lot Two (2), Berg Addition to the City
of Salina, Saline County, Kansas;
Lots One (1) and Two (2) , Block Twenty-seven (27) ,
Hutchinson's Addition to the City of Salina, Saline County,
Kansas;
The North fifth feet of Lot One (1) ; the South twenty-four

West ninety-eight feet of the South two and five tenths feet
(2.5') of Lot One (1 ) and the North fifty and nineteen

East eleven feet (11') of the West one hundred sixteen feet

West ninety-eight feet less the South two and five tenths

be and the same is hereby designated as an Historic District.

Section 2. That the types of significant exterior architectural features
of the structures within the district that should be protected include the
principal facades, main entrances, protruding bays, dormers, covered porches,
extended entryways (portecheres) and broad cantilevered eaves.
Section 3. That the types of construction, alteration, demolition and
removal, other than those requiring a building or demolition permit, that should
not be undertaken without obtaining a certificate of appropriateness include:
a) Installation of off-street parking areas in any front yard in
excess of a double -wide twenty foot (201) driveway located
perpendicular to the street;
b) Installation of a fence in any front yard;
c) Installation of metal or vinyl siding on the exterior of any
landmark or contributing principal structure;
d) Installation of any sign exceeding two (2) square feet in area
except temporary political campaign, real estate and construction
signs.
Section 4. That the principal structure designated as landmark is 800
South Santa Fe Avenue.
Section 5. That the principal structures to be designated as
contributing include 818, 820, 824, 826, 828, 830, 840, 850, 860, 809, 815, 833
land 841 South Santa Fe Avenue.
Section 6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
