5491 Call Election Issue GO BondsORDITWTCE IT DE_R 5491 Published In the Salina Journal, July 5, 1950) AN 01MII1TANCE providing for the calling and holding of an election of the qualified electors of the City of Salina, Kansas, to vote upon the question of authorizing the Board of Commissioners of said city to issue general obligation municipal bonds of the city in an amount of not to exceed $360,000.00 for the purpose of paying a part of the cost of constructing and extending works for the purpose of supplying said city and its inhabitants vi-ith water, the nature of said construction and extension being, town : a water softening plant and appurtenances. '7111C?EAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, deem it expedient to submit a question unto the qualified electors of the city relat— ing to authorizing the issuance of general obligation municipal bonds of the city for the purpose of paging a :part of the cost of constructing and extending works for the purpose of supplying the city and its inhabitants with water, the nature of said construction and extension being, to wit: a water softening plant and appurtenances; and notice of said election in the manner and forms directly and required by Sections 10-120, General Statutes of Kansas, 1935, and that the purpose of calling said election is to submit to the qualified electors of said city the proposition of issuing general obligation municipal bonds of said c# -y in the amount of not exceeding $360,000.00 to pay a part of the cost of con— structing and extending works for the purpose of supplying said city and its inhabitants with water, the nature of said construction and extension being:, to—tPat„ a ti^:ater softening plant and appurtenances, as more particularly set forth in Section 2. hereof. Section 2. That the proposition to be voted upon by the qualified >'MEREAS, the cost of the construct! on and extension, aforesaid, -mill not exceed the amount of $780,000.00; and TIME EAs, 4$ .20,000.00 of the amount, aforesaid, grill be available for the payment of a part of said cost from accumulated surplus funds in the water department of said city; and VJH :REAS, before the construction and extension, aforesaid, can be effected it is deemed necessary that provision be made for the issuance of general obligation municipal bonds of said city in a sum not to exceed $360,000.00;: and, VRIEREAS, it is necessary before said bonds ma i- be legally issued to submit the proposition of issuing the sane for said purpose of to the qualified electors of said city at an election to be held vrithin thirty days fro;n the date of the adoption and publication of this ordinance; and w'.TEREAS, the City of Salina is a City of the first class; and VIEHMS, the issuance of said bonds and others now contemplated will not create a debt in excess the of limit now provided by lair; and I OW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOM OF COI`?"ISST L RS O T.II CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS: Section 1. That the preambles of this ordinance are hereby incorporated herein and that an election is hereby called to be held 1 the City of Salina, Kansas, on Tuesday, August 1, 1950, betvreen the hours of 6:00 o'clock A. M. of said day, and 7:00 o'clock P. I,!. of said day, at the time of the regular Primary election, and vsi.thin thirty days after the adoption and publication at the usual place of holding elections and shall be conducted by the officers or persons provided by lar for holding elections in said City of Salina, Kansas, and that the mayor and two additional members of the Board of Commi— ssioners of said city being a majority of the governing body of said city, shall and are hereby ordered and directed jointly and severally, to publish notice of said election in the manner and forms directly and required by Sections 10-120, General Statutes of Kansas, 1935, and that the purpose of calling said election is to submit to the qualified electors of said city the proposition of issuing general obligation municipal bonds of said c# -y in the amount of not exceeding $360,000.00 to pay a part of the cost of con— structing and extending works for the purpose of supplying said city and its inhabitants with water, the nature of said construction and extension being:, to—tPat„ a ti^:ater softening plant and appurtenances, as more particularly set forth in Section 2. hereof.
