ADT OI�I',AN E relating to and apportioning and levering special assessments on certain
lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbi.g,
guttering, paving and grading of Crayford Avenue from the east line of Fourth Street
to the east line of Fifth Street; for the paving and grading of Kinvin Avenue from
the guest line of Fourth Street to the west line of Osborne Street; for the paving
and grading of Kansas Avenue from the north line of Gypsum Avenue to the south line
of Iron Avenue; or the paving and grading of Quincy Street from the south line of
Republic Avenue to the north line of Beloit Street; for the curbing, guttering and
grading of Qui�ncY _S,treet from the south line of Republic Avenue to the nortii line
of BeloitrSt eet; for the curbing, guttering and paving of Quincy Street from the
south line of Beloit Street to the south line of Kirvi.n Street; and for the paving
and grading of Third Street from the north line of North Street to the south line
of the Union PacUic Righ• -of way;, and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments.
BE IT 0RDA11M, by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. For that purpose of paying for that part of the cost of improve-
ments of certain portions of certain streets as hereinafter set forth in the follow-
ing sections of this ordinance which is chargeable to the private property in the
assessment districts for each of such improvements, respectively, as set forth in
the following sections of this ordinance with respect to each of such improvements
there are herebr levied and assessed on the property liable therefor, being all the
lots and pieces of ground lying on either side of said streets so improved, respect-
ively, to the middle of the distance im-proved, tivi_th respect to the improvements men-
tioned in Sections 2, 35 4, 51 6, and 7 of this ordinance, according to the apprais-
ed value of such lots and pieces of ground with respect to each such improvement,
yithout regard to the buildings or im-;rova-ents thereon, special assessments cover-
ing the cost of such :pork and improvements and said special assessments being based
on the special valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground hereto-
fore made by three disinterested a~Yraisers appointed by the Board of Commissioners
of the City of Salina, Kansas, with respect to each such im-orovement, which said
apprai.sements are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, and the sev-
eral amounts levied, apportioned and assessed against the lots and pieces of ground

found and determined to be the amounts set forth in the follo;,dnE sections of this
ordinance with respect to each of said improvements.
Section 2. For that part of the cost of curbing, guttering and paving of
Crawford Avenue from the east line of Fourth Street to the east line of Fifth
Street, which is chargeable against the private propert,7—within the district
chargeable therefor, and which cost is hereby deter Lined to be $2,317.51, there is
hereby levied, apportioned and assessed against the following described lots and

Section 8. Said amounts levied, apportioned and
assessed aforesaid **11 be
due and collectible in ten
equal installments, the first becoming due .,,ith the taxes
levied for the year 1950
and one of said installments

are paid, and all to be collected
with interest as in
this ordinance provided, PRDVIDED, HOt'wEVER, that the ovJmer of any piece of property
liable for any assessment
may redeem his property from
such liability by paying unto
the City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same, as in this ordinance
designated, at any time i,,ithin thirty days after the publication of this ordinance
and before the issuance of bonds of said city in payment of the balance of the
cost of said improvements, and the property so paid on shall not thereafter be
liable for any further assessments for the cost of said improvements nor for
any
part of said bonds.
Section 9. There is herebyfurther levied and assessed against the each lot
and piece of ground described in this ordinance, interest at such a rate
per annum
as shall be borne by the bonds hereafter to be issued for the payment of the remain-
ing unpaid cost of such improvements, to be hereafter deterrdned and fixed by ord-
inance :hen such bonds are issued, on all of said installments mentioned and pro-
vided for in this ordinance, from the date of the bonds w�hich may be issued at the
end of thirty days as specified in the proceeding sections thereof, as by law pro-
vided., to the time of the collection of the last installmenta proviaed by law,
which said interest shall be collected annuallyr at the same time and in the
same
manner as said installments are collected, and after the taking effect of this ord-
inance and the fixing of said interest rate -when such bonds are authorized and
issued, it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said city to annually at the same
time other taxes are certified and until all of said installments and assessments
so apportioned and levied herein have been certified, to the Count;- Clerk of Saline
County, Kansas, a full list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for
such work and improvement, except such property on which the special
assessments
aforesaid have been paid in full as hereinbefore provided, together -rrith the respect-
ive amounts due on each of such lots and pieces of ground, which amounts
shill
include the annual installments of such special assessments together -Alth the interest
for one year at the rate to be fixed as provided for in this ordinance, on
all
unpaid balances of such assessments, and s -ch amounts so certified as herein pro-
vided shall be placed upon the tax roll by the County Clerk of Saline County, IKansas,
and collected as other taxes are collected.
Section 10. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after

its publication once in the official city paper.
