AN ORDIIAhCE ratifying and confimring a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction
Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City
of Salina, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 245,
246 and 247, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the
cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas.
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the proposal of the
I1. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor" as sub-
muted to the Board of Commissioners on December 193 1949, which is hereby found to be
the lowest and best bid for such vaork, and the contract awarded by the Board of Com-
missioners of said City to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its IVlayor
on January 2, 1950, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of
Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit district,
being Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 245, as heretofore
provided by Ordinance Number 5414 as follows: Construction
of an eight inch clay pipe sem er beginning at a manhole
V -lith will be constructed on Main Sewer 't%" at the inter-
section of the center line of Wood Avenue and the center
line of Bond Street; thence north on the center line of
Wood Avenue to a point 60 feet south of the south line of
Crawford Avenue to a manhole to be constructed, being the
terminus thereof.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is
hereby,- ratified and confirmed, said proposal beinE vrithin the estimated cost of said
improvements as shown b -y the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office
of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this
ordinance.
A lateral sanitary sewer in a certain benefit district,
being Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 246, as heretofore
provided by Ordinance Number 5437 as follows: Construction
of an eight inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole
in Front Street which is 30 feet west of the east line
of Front Street and 172 feet north of the north lane of
Republic Avenue; thence east along center line of 14 foot
right-of-way 722.5 feet, more or less, to the center line
of Sunrise Drive at which point a manhole will be constructed,
which will be terminus of lateral.
A lateral sanitar}r sewer in a certain benefit district,
being Lateral.Sanitary Sewer Number 247, as heretofore
provided by Ordinance Number 5437, as follows: Construction
of an eight inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing
lamp hole in alley first north of Gypsum Avenue and 40 feet
west of the west line of Connecticut Avenue; thence east
along center line of said alley to the center line of
Delaware Avenue, there a manhole to be constructed and at
:i,-dch point sewer -will branch both north and south. North
branch shall continue north on center line of Dela,-�are
Avenue 170 feet to the center line of Stapler.Avenue;
thence east along center line of Stapler Avenue 410 feet
to a manhole to be constructed, which will be terminus of
north branch of lateral. South branch of lateral rill
begin at manhole in Delaware Avenue and center line of
alley first north of Gypsum extended east, thence south
95 feet; thence east 410 feet to a point which is 127.9
feet north of the north line of Qypsum Avenue, there a man-
hole to be constructed w-laich ,^,ill be terminus of said lateral,
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is
hereby,- ratified and confirmed, said proposal beinE vrithin the estimated cost of said
improvements as shown b -y the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office
of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this
ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in
the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor
and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts

of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the hia•or and attested by the City
Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as re-
cuired by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for such work,
such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 4�, per cent per annum and to mature not
later than April 11 1951, and to be issued in such amounts and at such.times as money
for the payment of the cost of such work may be required, such notes to be issued to said
contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal Improvement bonds
are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. That ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its
publication once in the official city paper.
