AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with Salina Crane &Shovel Company for
the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina hereto-
fore designated as Lateral Sahitary Sewer Districts 260, 261, 262 and 263, and
providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending
issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas.
SOction 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the proposal of the
Salina Crane & Shovel Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor" as submitted
to the Board of Commissioners on April 9, 1951, which is hereby found to be the lowest
and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of
said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the city by its Mayor on April 16,
1951, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, to wit:
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at an existing manhole at the
northeast corner of Lot 11, Block 3, Sunrise Addition, thence in a
southeasterly direction along right -of --way for utilities to the north
west corner of Lot 3, Block 4, Sunrise Addition; thence south along
right-of-way for utilities to the southwest corner of Lot 30 Block 6,
Sunrise Addition at which location a manhole will be constructed which
will be terminus of Lateral Sewer 260,
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at an existing manhole at the north-
west corner of Lot 70 Block 5, Sunrise Addition, thence south along right-
of-way for utilities 330 feet more or less, to the southwest corner of
Lot 12, Block 5, Sunrise Addition, at which point a manhole will be con-
structed which will be terminus of Lateral 261.
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at an existing sewer in center of
right-of-way for utilities at the northwest corner of Lot 11, Block 5,
Morningside Addition, thence east along center line of said right-of-
way to the southwest corner of Lot 8, Block 7, in Morningside Addition,
there a manhole to be constructed which will be terminus of Lateral 262.
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at an existing manhole in the inter-
section of Wilson Street and Sunrise Drive, thence south to the inter-
section of Sunrise Drive and Martin Avenues thence east along center line
of Martin Avenue 160 feet; thence north and easterly along center line of
right -oma way for utilities to the southwest corner of Lot 7, Block 6,
Morningside Addition, there a manhole to be constructed 1-h ich will be
terminus of Lateral 263,
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is
hereby ratified and confirded, saidproposal being within the estimated cost of said
improvements as shown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office
of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this
ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordaned with
the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office
Of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the
terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this
ordinance.
Sectio_ n 3* That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City
Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as re-
quired by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for such work,
such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 412- per cent per annum and to mature not
later than December 1, 1952, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as may
the money for the payment of the cost of such work be required, such notes to be issued
to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal Improvement
Bonds are issued in lieu thereof,
Section 4* That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and
after its publication once in the official city paper.
