5536 Confirm Utility ImprovementsORDINANCE NUMBER -__ 5536 (P1zblisheg in the Salina Journal 1951) AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain Lateral Sanitary Sewers in the City of Salina hereto- fore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 255, 256, 257, 258, 259 and Main Sewer District "Y", and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas. Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina of the proposal of the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on January 29, 1951, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the city by its Mayor on February 5, 1951, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, to wit: An 8 inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at an existing manhole which is 23 feet south of the north property line of Crawford Avenue and 132.5 feet east of the east property line of Second Street; thence west 340.0 feet on Crawford Avenue to a manhole to be constructed which is 127.5 feet east of the east line of Third Street extended south; thence north 912.5 feet on a line parallel with and 127.5 feet east of the east line of Third Street where a manhole will be constructed which will be terminus of !at 6ra1­2B50 (An 8 inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at a manhole in the intersects -H ofCrawford Avenue and Second Street;thence north in Second Street 912.5 f8et to a manhole to be constructed which will An 8 inch claypipe sewer be be terminus of lateral p P ginning at an existing manhole 256.) which is located at the southwest corner of Lot 13, Block 8, Sunrise Addition, thence southeast along right-of-way for utilities to the northeast corner of Lot 12, Block 7, Sunrise Addition, where a manhole will be constructed; thence north- east along right-of-way for utilities to the southwest corner of Lot 8, Block 7, Sunrise Addition where a manhole will be constructed which will be terminus of Lateral 257. An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole 30 feet south of the north line of Cloud Street and 125 feet west of the west line of Highland Avenue; thence south along right-of-way for utilities 725.0 feet to a manhole to be constructed which will be terminus of Lateral 258. An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole 30 feet south of the north line of Cloud Street and 110 feet west of the west line of Simmons Street; thence south along right-of-way for utilities 745 feet to a manhole to be constructed which shall be terminus of Lateral 259, A 10 inch clay pipe sewer, beginning at a manhole which is to be constructed at center line of alley, first north of Cloud Street and 5 feet east of the west line of Quincy Street; thence south and parallel to the quest line of Quincy Street 127.5 feet at which point a manhole will be constructed; thence west in Cloud Street with a 10 inch clay pipe sewer 2234 feet at which point a manhole will be constructed; thence west in Cloud Street with an 8 inch clay pipe sewer 300 feet at which point a manhole will be constructed which -will be terminus of Main Sewer "Y", at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the sameis hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the 1 �l terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the .cork progresses in the manner and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for such work, such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December 1, 1952, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as may the money for the payment of the cost of such work be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal Improve— ment Bonds are issued in lieu thereof. Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official city paper.
