5666 Construct Pumping StationORDINANCE No, 5666 AN Or DLdA"ISCE providing for the construction of a pumping stationfor the purpose of pumping the sewage of Lateral Sewer 265 and extension thereof, into the existing lateral sewer located in the center line of the north -south alley first east of Fifth Street in order to conduct the se.a-e of lateral sewer 285 to a point of outlet, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof. the City of Salinaa has by ordin=tes provided fo_ the construction, mai tenance and operati)n of its sewer system and of a Lateral Sewer 285 for the purpose of dis�,csing of the se.tage in such district, and iTFIER S, on account of the elevation of the existing main setters adjacent to said Lateral Setter 285, it is impracticable and too expensive to excavate in connecting such with any other main sewer district or main intercepting, sewer now existing, so as to dispose of the sewage in said Lateral Sewer, and ,Rh&S, in order to provide an outlet for the sewage of the Lateral Sewer 285 constructed, operated and maintained, it is necessary in the jud"ment of the goverrinE; body of the City of Salina to construct a pumping station for the -)urpose of pumping the sewage of such Lateral Sewer 285 into the present existing sewer located in the north -south alley first east of �'ifth Street, in order to conduct the sewage of said Lateral Sewer 265 to a po _nt of outlet; 1110, i 'r' rO ,E. BE; i (311AINHID by the Board of Cormlissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the preambles hereof are hereby incorporated herein. That a pumping station for the purpose of pumping the sewage of Lateral Sewer 285 and the extensions thereof to the sewer now existing in the north -south alley first east of Fifth Street, be constructed in the manner provided by law. Section 2. That the City Engineer of the City of Salina shall on or before the 7th day of July 1952, prepare and file in the office of the City Clerk, plans and specifications for the construction of the pumping station provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance which shall be of t',.e proper character and at the proper location to pump the sewage of said Lateral Sewer 28.E :unto the sewer at present existing in the north -south alley first east of Fifth Street, so as to conduct the sewage from Lateral Sewer 285 and extensions thereof to a point of outlet as a part of the se„age disposal system of the City of Salina, Kansas, and shall on or before said date prepare and su.rnit to the Board of Commissioners under oath detailed estarnates of the cost thereof and that thereafter the City Clerk shall advertise for three consecutive days in the official city paper for sealed proposals for the building and construction of such pu4ping station according to such plans and specifications, T�hich proposals shall be riled frith the City Clerk on or before the time fixed in such notice, at which time the Board of Commiss`_oners may let a contract for the b-ilding and construction of such pumping station to the lowest and best res_)onsi.ble bidder therefor; pevid�sra-�txch provided that such bids shall not exceed the estimated cost thereof and provided further -that said Board shall reserve the right to rject any and all such proposals and that if no responsible bids shall be :received zaithin said estLmated cost said Board may proceed and build such pumping station within such estimated cost. Section 3, That for the payment of the cost of such work the building and con- struction of said pumping station, the Board of Commissioners of the City of SalLla, Kansas, shall issue improvement, bonds of said city, in an amount not to exceed the total cost of such ,cork and improvements, to be payable in four aF,proxLnately equal annual installments and to bear interest at not to exceed 5% per annum from the date of such r 1 bonds, and for the purpose of paying such uonds and interest as they severall mature, the Board of Commissioners shall annually levy a tax upon all real and personal property in the City of Salina in an amount sufficient to pay the annual installments of such principal and interest, and pending issue and sale of such bonds, temporary notes shall be issued according to law, to pay the cost of such work. Section 4. That before the pumping ststion herein provided for shall be con- structed, the plans and specifications therefor shall first be submitted to the depart- anent of the Board of Health of the State of Kansas and be approved by such deparrment. Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication in the official city paper.
