A-j ORDINTANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction
Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading
improvements on certain streets and the paving and grading of a certain alley
in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay
the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of
the H. J. Taylor Construction Co:ripany, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor" as sub-
mitted to the Board of Commissioners on April 21, 1952, which is hereby found to be the
lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners
of said city to said contract and signed on behalf of the city by its 1111ayor on April 22,
1952 for the construction of certain )ublic improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas,
to -wit:
Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of University Street from the
west line of Clark Street to the east line of Broadway Boulevard, as
provided by Ordinance Number 5635.
Paving and grading of Sheridan Street from the north line of Venango
Street to the south line of r�ranklin Street, as provided by Ordinance
Number 5635.
Paving and grading of alley first east of Fifth Street from the north
line of Iron Avenue, north 207 feet, more or less, to the existing brick
pavement, as provided by Ordinance Number 5636,
at and for the unit price of said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is
hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said
improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City ingineer on file in the office
of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part; of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance i,-ith the
plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of
the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and. under the terms
of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk
be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form provided and
required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price for such work,
such notes to bear interest not to exceed 4z per cent per annum and to mature not later
than. December 1, 1953, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as money for the
payment of the cost of such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and
- cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force fro.❑ and after its publica-
tion once in the official city paper.
