AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction
Company for the construction of certain paving and grading improvements on certain
streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to
pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansass
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, for the proposal

of the H. J• Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Con.-
tractor"
Con•tractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on August 18, 1952, which is
hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded

by the Board of Conmi ssioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf
of the City of Salina by its Mayor on August 189 1952, for the construction of
certain public improvements in the City of Salina, to -mitt
Paving and grading of Anderson Avenue from the west line of
Front Street to the west line of Third Street, as provided
by Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of the center parking in Ash Street from
Oakdale Avenue to Pearn Avenue, and the center parking in Ash
Street from Penn Avenue to Columbia Avenue, as provided by
Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of the center parking in Ash Street from
Kansas Avenue to Des Moines Avenue, as provided by Ordinance
Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Delaware Avenue from the south line of
Gypsum Avenue to the south line of Stack Avenue, as provided
by Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Garfield Avenue from the north line of
Lincoln Avenue to the north line of North Street, as provided
by Ordinance Number 5888.
Paving and grading of Grant Street from the north line of North
Street to the south line of the Rock Island Railroad right-of-
way, as provided by Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Illinois Street from the west line of
Sherman Street to the east line of Custer Street, as provided
by Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Lincoln Avenue from the east line of
Garfield Avenue to the east line of Arthur Avenue, as provided
by Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Rahm Street from the west line of Front
Street to the east line of Third Street, as provided by Ordinance
Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Sheridan Street from the south line of
Crawford Street to the south line of Illinois Street, as provided
by Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Sheridan Street from the south line of
Wilson Street to the north line of Franklin Street, as provided
by Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Sunrise Drive from the south line of Beloit
Avenue to the south line of Ellsworth Avenue, as provided by
Ordinance Number 5688.
Paving and grading of Sunrise Drive from the south line of
Ellsworth Avenue to the north line of Kirwin Avenue, as provided
by Ordinance Number 5688.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal
and contract are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the
same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost
of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file
in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made

a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefor plepared by the City Engineer on file
in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said con—
tractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to
and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and Attested by the
City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and
forth as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price
for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and
to mature not later than December 1, 1953 and to be issued in such amounts and at
such time as money for the payment of the cost of such notes being issued to said
contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are
issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after
its publication in the official city paper.
