Section 1. icor the purpose of paring for that part of the cost of improvements of
certain portions of certain streets as 'hereinafter set forth in the following sections of
this ordinance which is chargeable to the private propert-,- in the assessment districts for

each of such improvements, respectively, as set forth in the following sections of this
ordinance with respect to each of such improvements there are L.erdoy levied and assessed
on the property liable therefor, being all the lots and pieces of "round lying on either
side of said streets so improved, respectively, to the :ai.ddle of the U'lock for the distance
improved, with respect to the ir;iprovements mentioned in Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, of this
ordinance, according to the appraised value of sri.ch lots and pieces of ground v;ithri respect
to each such improvement, without regard to the buildings or iip--ovements thereon, special
assessments covering the cost of such work and improvements, said special assessments being

based on the special valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground hereto-
fore made by three disinterested appraisers appo 1nted by the Board of Cor¢issioners of the
City of Salina, Kensas, with respect to each such improvement, which said appraiserner_ts
are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinace, and the several ac:ounts so levied,
apportioned and assessed against the lots and pieces of ground for each such i_-- roveraents,
respectively, for the purpose aforesaid are here y found and d etermined to be the ariotLnts
set forth in the following sections of this ordinalee with respect to each of said i.mprove-
ments.
