AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Con-
struction Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading
improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing
for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance
and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City ofSalina of the proposal of
the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor"
as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on July 20, 1953, which is hereby found
to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the
Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of
the City of Salina by the Mayor on July 27, 1953, for the construction of certain
public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
Curbing, guttering and grading of the north side of Cloud
Street from the center line of Eleventh Street to the center
lineof Pershing Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance
Number 5792
Curbing, guttering and grading of Eleventh Street from the
center line of Hamilton Avenue to the center line of
Antrim Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5792.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the east side of Four tt
Street from the center line of Lamar Street to the center
line of Republic Avenue, which is provided for by
Ordinance Number 5792.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the south side of
Martin Avenue from the east line of Lewis Avenue to the
west line of Ohio Avenue, as provided by Ordinance Number
5792.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Second Street on the
west side from the center line of WilsonStreet, 200 feet
south from the south line of Wilson Street and on the east
side from the center line of Wilson Street south 350 feet
from the south line of Wilson Street, as provided for by
Ordinance Number 5792.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the west side of Third
Street from the north line of Walnut Street 350 feet,
more or less, to the north bank of the Smoky Hill River,
as provided by Ordinance Number 5792.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the north side of Wilson
Street from the center line of Fourth Street to the east
lot line of Lot Twelve (12) Block Five (5) College View
Addition and Wilson Street (south side) from the canter
line of Fourth Street to the west line of Third Street,
as provided for by Ordinance Number 5792.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal
and contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and th e
same is ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of
said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in
the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a
part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer on file
in the Office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said con-
tractor and under the terms of the said contract, all of which are hereby referred
to and made parts of this ordinance.

Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the
signature of the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses
in the manner and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to
exceed the amount of $81031.39 for such work, such notes to bear interest not
to exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December 1, 195.,
and to be issued in such amounts and at such time as money for the payment of
the cost of such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and
cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in force from and after its publication
once in the official city paper.
