AN ORUINA.NCE ratifyingand confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company
for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers and main sanitary sewer in
the City of Salina, Kangas, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts
294, 295, 296 and Main Sanitary Sewer "AB", and providing for the issuance of temp-
orary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAIN,:,D by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance of the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal
of the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor"
as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on April 20, 1953, which is hereby found
to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board
of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the city
by its Mayor on April 27, 1953, for the construction of certain public improvements
in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
An eight inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole in the
Intersection of the center line of Lincoln Avenue and the
center line of the first alley east of Third Street; thence
west 330 feet to the center line of first alley east of
Fourth Street; thence south along said alley east of Fourth
Street, 220 feet to the north right-of-way line of Atchison,
j Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, there a manhole to be constructed
and beginning again at the intersection of the center line of
Lincoln Avenue and the center line of said first alley east
of Fourth Street; thence north along center line of said alley
315 feet to the south line of Union Pacific Railroad right-of-
way where a manhole will be constructed which will be the
terminus of Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 294
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing manhole
in the center line of Roach Street and the center line of
utility easement of Replat of Block 3, Claflints Addition
to the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University, City of
Salina, Saline County, Kansas; thence east in utility ease-
ment an approximate 600 feet, more or less, to a manhole to
be constructed, being the terminus of Lateral Sanitary Sewer
Number 295•
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing manhole
In the intersection of Indiana Avenue and Stapler Avenue
thence east along the center line of Stapler Avenue 645
feet where a manhole will be constructed which will be the
terminus of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 296.
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole to be
built over an existing 10 inch pipe sewer 19 feet south
of the center line of North Street andira the center
of the alley between Thirteenth Street and Reynolds Street,
thence west, parallel to the center line of North Street
940 feet to a manhole which will be constructed which will
be the terminus of Main Sewer "AB11.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is
hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being *i.thin the estimated cost of said
improvements as shown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the
office of the City Clerk, which estimate is hereby referred to and made a part of
this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file
in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor
and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a

Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and for as
required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contractr
p ice of
$12,365.43 for such work, such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 42 per cent

per annum and to mature not later than December 1, 1954, and to be issued in such
amounts and at such times as may the money for the payment of the cost of'such
work be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and
cancelled at the time that Internal Improvement Bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. That this ordinance shalltake effect and be in fall force from
and after its publication once in the official city paper.
