ORDINANCE NUMBER 92-9530
AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A ONE-HALF PERCENT (1/2%) RETAILERS'
SALES TAX BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1993.
WHEREAS, at a referendum election on August 4, 1992, the voters of
Salina voted in favor of the imposition of a one-half percent (1/2%) retailers'
sales tax beginning January 1, 1993; and
WHEREAS, K.S.A. 12-187(f) provides that if a majority of the
electors voting at such election shall approved the levying of such tax, the
Governing Body of any such. City shall provide by ordinance for the levy of
the tax, SO NOW, THEREFORE
Kansas:
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Section 1. There is hereby levied pursuant to K.S.A. 12-187 a
one-half percent (1/2%) retailers' sales tax beginning January 1, 1993.
Section 2. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to forward a
certified copy of this ordinance to the Kansas Director of Taxation, who shall
cause the retailers' sales tax levied hereunder to be collected in accordance
with state law.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
