ORDINANCE NUMBER 95-9717
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18, ARTICLE II, OF THE
SALINA CODE REGARDING HOUSING BY ADDING SECTION 18-25.1.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Kansas
Section 1. That Chapter 18 of the Salina Code is hereby amended to
read as follows by adding Section 18-25.1:
"Section 18-25.1. Nuisance declared - municipal court
prosecution.
Any violation of the provisions of this chapter shall
be deemed a nuisance and detrimental to the health, safety
and welfare of the inhabitants of this city. As an
alternative to any other remedy under this article, any
person or persons who are or may be responsible for any
violation of this chapter may be prosecuted in municipal
court and punished by:
(1) An order to vacate, repair and/or demolish;
(2) An order authorizing the City to repair and/or
demolish and assessing the costs thereof;
(3) A fine of not more than $500;
(4) Imprisonment for a period of not exceeding six
(6) months; or
(5) Any combination of the above.
Each day any violation of this chapter continues shall
constitute a separate offense."
Section 2. That Section 18-5 is hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
