96-9744 Traffic Motor Vehicles(Published in The Salina Journal June 1996) VOID ORDINANCE NUMBER 96-9744 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 38 OF THE SALINA CODE PERTAINING TO TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLES BY ADDING SECTION 38-29. BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That Chapter 38 of the Salina Code is hereby amended by adding Section 38-29 to read as follows: "Section 38-29. Gopeds prohibited on roadway. No person shall ride a goped upon any roadway, sidewalk, street or highway. A goped is defined as a motorized skateboard or motorized scooter. Violation of this section is an unclassified misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) . In addition to the penalty for violation of this section, any goped may be seized in connection with said violation and may, in discretion of the trial court, be released back to the rightful owner upon their appearance in court or may otherwise be destroyed by the Chief of Police when the property is no longer needed for evidence." Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper. (SEAL) ATTEST: Judy D.
