97-9788 HC Landmark(Published in The Salina Journal Februarys?/, 1997) ORDINANCE NUMBER 97-9788 AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE STRUCTURE LOCATED AT 201 SOUTH EIGHTH STREET AS A HERITAGE CONSERVATION (HC) LANDMARK. wit: BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the structure located on the following described real estate to Lots 4 and 5, School Park in the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas. The above described tract of land contains .287 acres more or less. Known as 201 South Eighth Street, be and the same is hereby designated as an Heritage Conservation (HC) Landmark. Section 2. That the types of significant exterior architectural features of the nominated property that should be protected are: a) Gothic detailing of the church structure, consisting of arched stained glass windows, door and window openings, wood tracery and other art glass lights throughout the main floor, upper floors and tower; b) Decorative masonry and stone coursework; embellishment of the structure by masonry arches, surrounds and string courses; stone moldings, trim, sills and capitals. Section 3. That the types of construction or alteration other than those requiring a building permit, that cannot be undertaken without a certificate of appropriateness include: a) Installation of additional driveways or parking areas in grassed front yard areas surrounding the building. Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
