LI, Published in the Salina Journal Februa 1954 AN ORDINANCE prescribing certain minimum standards as to sizes of water service mains and water distribution service into and within residences and Wtment houses in the City of Salina and prescribing penalties for the violation thereof. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. For the purpose of determining theminimum size of water service lines extending from mains in streets or al leysinto ahouse or gnrtment house, and providing distribution lines inside house or apartment house piping the following conversion table converting plumbing fixtures to fixture -unit ratings, ishereby established: Conversion Table Plumbing Fixtures to Fixture -Unit Ratings Applicable to Homes I Water closet, flush tank 1 Lavatory 1 Bathtub vd th or without shower head 1 Shower compartment 1 Kitchen sink 1 Disposal unit 1 Laundry trap(1 to 3 -compartment) 1 Sillcock 1 Laundry machine -3 Fixture -units -1 Fixture -units -2 Fixture -units -2 Fixture units -2 Fixture -units -1 Fixture -units -3 Fixture -units -4 Fixture -units -3 Fixture -units Section 2. That the size of any such piping required by the provisions hereof shall be computed as follows: Step 1. Determine thewater pressure at the main. The Water Department of the City of Salina shall provide this information. Step 2. Compute thenumber of fixture units to be supplied, including plumbing connected applicances and sillcocks using the conversion table set forth in Section 1 hereof and employing the minimum relative sizes regi ired by Section B hereof. Section 3. That the minimum water -pipe sizing applicable to any particular in- stallation shat 1 be correlated with fixture -units demand and shall be determined by the following water -pipe sizing table: 7L4TER-PIPE SIZING TABLE Small Buildings Sizes are computed to maintain a maximum velocity of 10 feet per second, based on water pressure drop of 5 psi per 100 feet. That the minimum service main diameters and the inside piping diameters shall be determined by employment of the conversion table set forth in Section 1 hereof and correlation thereof with the water -pipe sizing table set forth in Section 3 hereof. No water installation shall be hereafter effected connecting the main or the water distribution -oystem to any building or providing for the distribution of water within any building that does not meet the minimum requirements of the sizing table, aforessi d. In the event the various maximum developed length of piping in feet exceeds the maximum set forth in the water -pipe sizing table in Section 3 hereof, that thereupon the minimum acceptable water service lines installations shall be increased by one quarter inch or more as applicable. No installations shall be effected that do not provide a distribution system to carry, in compliance with the minimum standards hereof., the regp.ired quantity of fixture -units. Section 5. In the event any person, firm or corporation shall violate or fail to comply with the minimum standards established by this ordinance, or fai is to comply with any requirement, order or direction of the plumbing inspector, given pursuant to this ordinance, shall upon conviction be deemed guilty of a public offense and shall be punished by fine of not less than $25.00 or more than $100.00, or by imprisonment not to exceed thirty (30) days, or by '§oth such fine and imprisonment for each such offense..
