AN CRDINANCE providing for and authorizing the issuance of Improvement Bonds of
the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of w247,472.91, to pay the cost of constr-
ucting main sanitary sewers and certain lateral sanitary sewers and storm sewers,
and pumping stations in the City of Salina, Kansas, which bonds shall be designated
as Series S-159.
WHMEAS, pursuant to proceedings duly had according to law, certain main anc certain
lateral sanitary sewers and storm sewers have been constructed in the City of Salina,
Kansas, in main sewer districts and certain lateral sanitary sewer districts, as
follows:

by Ordinance Number 5565.
Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 266, as provided for and authorized
by Ordinance Number 5595.

Yf '�' S, the total cost of said sewers constructed in and as the sewer districts
above mentioned and to be paid by special assessments levied upon lots and pieces
of ground liable for the payment of said sewers in the sewer districts above men-
tioned has been ascertained and is hereby found and determined to be the sum of
gl 85,582.1.4, which amount has been heretofore duly assessed. and apportioned to the
several lots and pieces of ground liable therefor according to law and as provided
for in the Ordinances of the City of Salina relating thereto, of which amount the
sum of X15,008.34 has been paid by the owners of the property liable therefor,
leaving a balance for which bonds will be issued in the sum of X170,573.80.

ascertained in the amount of '76,899.11 to be paid by general taxes to be leviod
upon all taxable property within said city; and for which bonds are to be issued;
and

BE' IT ORIDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the foregoing preambles are being hereby adopted and
rrLade apart of this ordinance and that for the purpose of providing funds to
pay the cost of the improvements, hereinbefore described, there shall be
issued and there hereby are issued, Internal Improvement :)onds of the City
of Salina, Kansas, in the total principal sum of :247,472.91, which issue
shall consist of 247 bonds numbered from 1 to 247, inclusive, all dated
November 1, 1953, bonds numbered 1 to 247, inclusive, to 'bear interest from
date at the rate of One and five-eighths
per cent per annum, payable August 1, 1954, and thereafter semiannually on
February lst and August 1st of each year to be evidenced by interest coupons
as herein provided for, and said bonds shall become due serially in denomination
as follows:
Bonds numbered 1 to 62 for ,x1,000.00 each except
Number 1 is for 1,472.' due August 1, 1955•
Bonds numbered 63 to 124 for :1,000.00 each, due
August 1, 1956.
Bonds numbered 125 to 186 for x,000.00 each, due
August 1, 1957.
Bonds numbered 167 to 247 for W'1,000.00 each, due
August 1, 1958•
Section 2. Said bondsshall be signed by the iayor and shall be attested by
the signature of the City Clerk and the corporate seal of the City shall be affixed
-thereto, and shall have attached thereto interest coupons representing the interest
thereon, which coupons shall be in the norm provided by law and shall bear the
printed or lithographed facsimile signatures of theMa.yor and the City Clerk of
said City and said bonds and interest coupons shall be registered in the offices
of the City Clerk and the State Auditor as required by law.
Section 3. Said bonds shall be designated as Series 5-159, and shall be in
the form and shall contain recitals substantially as follows, to -wit:

Section 4. The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed
to prepare and execute the bonds hcreinbefor.e described and to advertise to and
sell the same in the manner provided by law, and, when duly executed and registered,
to deliver said bonds to the purchaser or purchasers thereof.
Section 5. The full faith, credit and resources of the City of Salina,
Kansas, shall be and the same are hereby irrevocably pledged for the prompt payment
of said bonds and all interest thereon. The Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina, Kansas, shall annually make provisions for the payment of the principal
and interest on said bonds, the same become due by levying taxes and assessments
upon the property liable therefor as provided by law.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after
its publication once in the official city paper.
