AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H.J. Taylor Construction
Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading
improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the
issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale
of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal
of the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor"
as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on September 28, 1953, which is hereby
found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the
Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the
City by its Mayor on October 5, 1953, for the construction of certain public improve-
ments in the City of Salina, Kansas,•to-wit:
Paving of Eighth Street from the north line of
Grand Avenue to the south line of Woodland Avenue,
as provided for by Ordinance Number 5807.
Paving of College Avenue from the south line of
Prescott Avenue to the north line of Morrisbn
Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5807.
Paving of Ellsworth Street from the west line of
Highland Circle to the east line of Pershing Street,
as provided for by Ordinance Number 5807.
Paving of Phillips Street from the north line of
Prescott Avenue to the south line of Charles Street,
as provided for by Ordinance Number 5807.
Paving of Roach Street from the north line of McAdams
Road south to the south line of Martin Avenue, as
provided for by Ordinance Number 5807.
Paving of Wilson Street from the west line of
Kerrison Road to the east line of Sunrise Drive, as
provided for by Ordinance Number 5807.
Paving and grading of Wilson Street from the east
line of Roach street to the west line of Sunrise
Drive, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5807.
Curbing, guttering and paving of Roach Street from
the south line of Minneapolis Avenue to the north
line of Beloit Street, as provided for by Ordinance
Number 5807.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Third Street, from
the north line of Harsh Avenue to the south line of
Hamilton Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number
5807.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal
and contracture hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the
same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated
cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer
on file in the office of the City Clem which estimates are hereby referred to
and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer on file
in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said con-
tractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to
and made parts of this ordinance.

Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City
Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form
as required by law, the total amount thereof not to be exceed the amount of $89,097.80
for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 4-2% per cent per annum,
and to mature not later:�than December 1, 1951, and to be issued in such amounts
and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of such notes being issued
to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent
bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its adoption and publication once in the official city paper.
