AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Co. for
the construction of certain main sewer and lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina,
Kansas, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Ristricts 311,312,313, & 314, and
providing for the issuance to temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and
sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance of the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal
of the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "contractor"
as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on March 22, 1955, which is hereby found to be
the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners
of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on March 29,
1955, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -
wit:
An 8 -inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing
sewer which is 13.4 feet east of the west line of
Broadway Boulevard and 112 feet south of the north
line of the southwest quarter of Section 14, T14S,
R3W, thence north 500 feet where a manhole will be con-
structed which will be ternbaus of lateral Sewer
Number 311.
An 8 -inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole in
the center line of Kansas Avenue and the center line
of 20 foot alley, 531 feet south of the south line
of Iron Avenue, thence east 310 feet where a manhole
w wi].11 be constructed which will be terminus of
Lateral 312.
An 8 -inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing
manhole which is 7 feet west of the center line of
Ohio Street and 109.35 feet north of the north line
of McAdams Road; thence west along the center line
of easement in Blocks 7 and m, Riker Addition to a
point 50 feet east of the east line of Roach Street,
where a manhole will be constructed which will be
terminus of Lateral 313.
An- 8 -inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing
manhole in the centeroi Ohio Street and on the
center line of easement for utilities in Block
6 of the Replat of Blocks 6 & 8, Claflin Addition
to the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University,
thence west along center line of said easement
610 feet to a manhole to be constructed which
will be terminus of Lateral 314.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby
ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements
as whown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk
which estimate is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
I Section 2. Maid improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with
the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office
of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms
of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordaince.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attest by the City Clerk
be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by
law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price of$ 9,252.20
for such work, such notes to bear interest at not to exceed 4- per cent per annum and to
mature not later than December 1, 1955, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times
as may the money for the payment of the cost of such work be required, such notes to be
issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal im-
provement bonds are issued in lieu thereof.

Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and
after its publication once in the official city paper.
