5941 Elect GO Bonds11 ORDINANCE NUMBER 594. (Published in the Salina Journal, March 9, 1955) AN ORDINANCE providing for the calling and holding of an election of the qualified electors of the City of Salina, Kansas, to vote upon the question of authorizing the Board of Com- missioners of said city to issue general obligation bonds, payable by a general tax, in the amount of $300,000.00 for the purpose of paying the cost of enlarging and improving the system of works, owned by said city, for the treatment and disposal of the sewage of said city. WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, deem it necessary to pro- vide for enlarging and improving a system of works, owned by said city, for the treatment and disposal of the sewage of said city; and WHEREAS, the cost of enlarging and improving said system of works for th6 treatment and dis- posal of the sewage of said city, will not exceed the estimated amount of $300,000.00; and WHEREAS, it is deemed to be necessary to issue general obligation bonds of said city, payable by a general tax, to pay the cost of enlarging and improving said system of works for the treatment and disposal of the sewage of the city; and WHEREAS, it is necessary before said bonds may be legally issued, to submit the proposition issuing the same for said purpose to the qualified electors of said city, at an election to be held within thirty (30) days from the date of the adoption and publication of this ordin- ance; and WHEREAS, the City of Salina, Kansas, is a city of the first class; and WHEREAS, the issuance of said bonds and others now contemplated, will not create a debt in excess of the limit now provided by law; and SOI,NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the preambles of this ordinance are hereby incorporated herein, ands that an election is hereby called to be held in the City of Salina, Kansas, on Tueuday, April at 5, 1955, between the hours of 6:00 o'clock A.M. and 7:00 o'clock P.M. of said d&y six the time of the regular city election andwithin thirty (30) days after the adoption and publica- tion of this ordinance, according to law, and that such election shall be held at the nsfaal place of holding elections and shall be conducted by the officers or persons provided by law for holding elections in s&i.d City of Salina, Kansas, and that the Mayor and two additional members of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, being a majority of the governing body of said city, shall and they are hereby ordered and directed, jointly and severally to publish notice of said election in the manner and form directed and required by Section 10-120, General Statutes of Kansas, 1949, and that the purpose of calling said elec- tion is to submit to the qualified electors of said city, the proposition of issuing general obligation bonds of said city, payable by a general tax, in the amount of $300,000.00 for the purpose of paying the cost of enlarging and improving a system of works for the treatment and disposal of the sewage of said city as more particularly set forth in Section 2 hereof. Section 2. That the proposition to be voted upon by the qualified electors of said city at said election shall be substatially the following: Shall the following be adopted? Shall the City of Salina, Kansas, issue its general obligation bonds, payable by a general tax, in the amount of $300,000.00, under the provisions of Section/ 12-630a, General Statutes of Kansas, 1949, for the purpose of paying the cost of enlarging and improving the system of works, owned by said city, for the treatment and disposal of the sewage of said ci. 1 To vote in favor of said bonds, make a cross X mark in the square after the word 'yes'.
