AN ORDINANCE providing for the calling and holding of an election of the qualified electors of
jthe City of Salina, Kansas, to vote upon the question of authorizing; the Board of Commissioners;
of said city to issue bonds in the amount of $100,000.00 for the purpose of paying the city's j
:share of the actual cost of equipping, developing and improving the municipal airport, owned
by said city, for aviation purposes, and to authorize said board to accept a grant of funds to
Abe used exclusiiaely for said purposes from the Civil Aeronautics Administration or some similar
Federal Agency in the Sum of $27,830.00.
;WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, the public safety,;,
kservice and welfare can be advanced by the equipping, improving and developing of the munici-
pal airport of the City of Salina for aviation purposes; and
WHEREAS, the -total cost of said improvement of said airport will not exceed $127,830.00; and

WHEREAS, the Civil Aeronautics Administration, or some similar agency, a unit of the govern -menu
of the United States of America, will contribute $27,830.00 to be used exclusively for said
purposes; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of said improvement to said city, will not be in excess of $127,830.00;
and
WHEREAS, it is necessaryto issue general obligation bonds of the said city, to pay the share
of the cost to be paid by the city, being a sum not in excess of $1.00,000.00; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary, before said bonds may be legally issued for said purppses , to sub-
mit the proposition of issuing the same to the qualified electors of said city, at an election
to be held within thirty (30) days from the date of the adoption and publication of this or-
dinance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Salina is a city of the first class; and
1WHEREAS, the issuance of said bonds and others not contemplated, will not create a bonded in-
idebtedness of said city, in excess of the limit now provided by law; and
ISO NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the preambles of the ordinance are hereby incorporated herein,
and that an election is hereby called to be held in the City of Salina, Kansas, on Tuesday,
April 5, 1955, between the hours of 6:00 o'clock A.M. and 7:00 o'clock P.M. of said day, at
the time of the regular city election and within thirty (30) days after the adoption and pub-
lication of this ordinance, according to law, and that such election shall be held at the us-
ual place of holding elections and shall be conducted by the officers or persons provided by
law for holding elections in said City of Salina, Kansas, and that the Mayor and two additional
members of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, being a majority of the
governing body of said city, shall and they are hereby ordered and directed, jointly and sev-
erally to publish notice of said election in the manner and form directed and required by Sec-
