5928 Street Improvements1 1 1 ORDINANCE NUMBER 5928 (Published in the Salina Journal 1954) AN ORDINANCE ratifying add confirming a contract with the H.J. Taylor Construction Company 5; for the construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on certain streets! in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the ticost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED By the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the acceptance by the Cityof Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the N. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on December 20, 1954, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded py the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City of Salina by the Mayor on December 27, 1954, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: Curbing, guttering and grading of Beatrice Avenue from the center line of Martin Avenue to the center line of McAdams Road, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of Cloud Street on the north side from the center line of Pershing Avenue to the center line of Broadway Boulevard and on the south side from the center line of .Ninth Street to the center line of Broadway Boulevard, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of Gypsum Avenue on the north side from the center line of Indiana Avenue to the center line of Iowa Avenue and on the south side from the center line of Missouri Avenue to the center line of Iowa Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of the south side of Haven Avenue from the center line of Steahlin Avenue to the center line of Whittinghill Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of the south side of Haven Avenue, from the center line of Whittinghill Avenue to the center line of Viemont Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of Lewis Avenue from the center line of Martin Avenue to the center line of McAdams Road, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of McAdmas Road from the center line of Pearl Avenue to the center line of Lewis Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of the North side of Martin Avenue from the west line of Lewis Avenue to the center line of Ohio Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of Missouri Avenue from the center line of Stack Place to the center line of Greeley Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of the east side of Roach Street from the center line of Jewell Avenue to the center line of Kir- win Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of the south side of Republic Avenue from the east line of U.S. Highway No. 81, thence east to the east line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad right-of-way, and the north side of Republic Avenue from the west line of Hane&ck Street, thence west to a point 216 feet west of the east right-of-way line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad, as provided for by Resolution Number 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of Steahlin Avenue from the center line of Crawford Avenue to the center line of Haven Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. 1 P- i Curbing, guttering and grading of Viemont Avenue from the center line of Crawf6rd avenue to the center line of haven Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 1 5921. Curbing, guttering and grading of Whittinghill Avenue from the center line of Crawford Avenue to the Center 1 line of Haven Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5921. at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and con- tract are -hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance wi the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the Office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of the said contract, all of which are herebir referred to and made parts of this ordinance. Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the signature of the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $125,538.60 for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December 1, 1955, and to be issued in such amounts and at such time as money for the payment of the cost of such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemd and cancelled at the itme that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
