00-10004 Amend UPCConsaiiJa�elSa�ina (Published in the Salina Journal November 17, 2000) ORDINANCE NUMBER 00-10004 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF SECTIONS 8-186 AND 8-286 OF CHAPTER 8 OF THE SALINA CODE RELATING TO INSTALLATION OF GAS APPLIANCES IN BATHROOMS. BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That Section 8-186 Chapter 8 of the Salina Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 8-186. Amendment of Section 509 of the Uniform Plumbing Code. [Section 509 of the Uniform Plumbing Code is hereby amended to read as follows:] 509.0 Prohibited Locations Water heaters which depend on the combustion of fuel for heat shall not be installed in a room used or designed to be used for sleeping purposes, bathroom, clothes closets or in a closet or other space opening into a bath or bedroom. Exception 1: Direct vent water heaters Exception 2: The replacement of fuel burning water heaters that are located in bathrooms or closets accessible from a bathroom shall be permitted. Where not prohibited by other regulations, water heaters may be located under a stairway or landing. Section 2. That Section 8-286 of Chapter 8 of the Salina Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 8-286. Amendment of Section 904.5 of the Uniform Mechanical Code. [Section 904.5 of the Uniform Mechanical Code is hereby amended to read as follows:] 904.5 In a room used or designed to be used as a bedroom, bathroom, closet or in any enclosed space with access only through such room or space. Exception 1: Direct vent furnaces, enclosed furnaces and electric heating furnaces. Access to furnaces located in an attic or under -floor crawl space may be through a closet. Exception 2: The replacement of warm air furnaces that are located in existing bathrooms shall be permitted." Section 3. That the existing sections 8-186 and 8-286 are hereby repealed. Section 4.
