ORDINANCE NUMBER 00-9970
AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE STRUCTURE LOCATED
APPROXIMATELY 600 OAKDALE DRIVE, THE OAKDALE PARK GATE MEMORIAL,
AS A HERITAGE CONSERVATION (HC) LANDMARK.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the structure located on the following described real estate to wit:
A tract of land consisting of part of the Southwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter
(SW'/4 NE'/4) and the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW'/4 SE '/4),
westerly of Oakdale Avenue and part of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter
(SE 1/4 NW 1/4) and the Northeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (NE 1/4 SW 1/4),
easterly and northerly of the Smoky Hill River, all within Section Thirteen, Township
Fourteen South, Range Three West (13-T14S-R3W)of the Sixth Principal Meridian, in
the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas (more commonly referred to as Oakdale Park,
730 S. Oakdale Avenue, Salina, Kansas).
be and the same is hereby designated as a Heritage Conservation (HC) Landmark.
Section 2. That the types of significant exterior architectural features of the nominated
property that should be protected are:
a) Decorative granite stonework comprising the gate pedestals, associated structure,
exhedra, base relief inscriptions and embellishments;
b) Cast bronze statuary, medallions and globe lighting fixtures.
Section 3. That the types of construction or alteration other than those requiring a
building permit, that cannot be undertaken without obtaining a Certificate of Appropriateness
include:
a) Alteration to or demolition and removal of protected features..
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
