WHY NJ OlèJ ':';CT TOó.>ZOlEN'} 'O~ .b. ]?";3I::i:SS LL:TRICT*.
Th~ erection of a business building at the corner of
Iron and Front streets would serve as the opening wedge
for any kind
of a business venture.
It would irevi t6
hot dog stands. small and unsightly repair shops. material
storage grounds, filling stations and others that would
virtually ruin it as a resi~ence section.
Iron avenue is the chief entrance or gate way to the
East Side.
Very naturally people form their impressions
of the entire east section
of the city in driving along
this street.
If it should be allowed to degenerate into
a jumble of small buildings we feel that not only will we.
in the immediate vicinity. be greatly injured. but the
entire east side will be adversely affected.
We have tried. through the years. to make our homes
attractive.
We ha,e a community where homes are largely
owned by those living :'.n them end naturally such a communi ty
takes -pride in the beauty :f its surroundings End asks
that the resideLtial feature be continued.
We have gone
to much expense in ~aving end providing other improvements
and we feel we should have consideration in the protection
of our interests.

Business buildings here wculd merely increase the hazard.
We. the property owners. feel we will be greatly
damaged if Ð coomercial zone is made of this residential
section.
There is no change in sentiment on the part of
home owners frcnl that always existing and we see no reason
why there should be any change with others.
Efforts.have
been made to commercialize this district before and protests
have been emphatic.
Only two years ago such a project re-
sulted in immediate and emphatic protest.
"Nhy should a
project be allowed now when e si:nilar one. but involving a
much finer building than is now contemplated. was voted out
two years ago?
No good reason is known for pe~itting commercializing
of this zone to-day, unless some political feature should be
involved, and that is unthinkable.
