AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the A. J. Taylor Conttruction
Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on
certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of
tem-porary notes to pay the cost therof pending the issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED By the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of
the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as
submitted to the Board of Commnissioners on October 4, 1954, which is hereby found to be

the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Com-
missioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City of Salina
by the Mayor on October 11, 1954, for the construction of certain public improvements in
the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:

Curbing, guttering and grading of Claflin Avenue from the center line of Roach Street
to the center line of Lewis Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number
5894.

Curbing, guttering and grading of Eighth Street from the center line of
Grand Avenue to the center line of Decatur Street, as provided for by
y Ordinance Number 5894.
i
Curbing, guttering and grading of Franklin Street from the center line of
Seminole Avenue to the center line of Shawnee Avenue, as provided for by
Ordinance Number 5894.
Curbing, guttering t g, gu ng and grading of Kirwin Avenue from the center line of
Roach Street to the center line of Lewis Street, as provided for by Ordinance
Number 5894.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Lewis Street from the center line of Claflin
Avenue to the center line of Kirwin Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance
Number 5894.
Curbing, guttering and grading of McAdams Road from the center line of Roach
Street to the center line of Pearl Street, as provided for by Ordinance
Number 5894•
Curbing, guttering and grading of Pearl Street from the center line of Martin
Avenue to the center line of McAdams Road, as provided for by Ordinance
Number 5894.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the east side of Roach Street from the center
line of Claflin Avenue to the center line of Kirwin Avenue, as provided for
by Ordinance Number 5894.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Shawnee Avenue from the center line of
Seminole Avenue to the center line of Franklin Street, as provided for by
Oddinance Number 5894.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and
contract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is

ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of s&Ad improve -
vents as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the
City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with

the plans and specifications therfore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the Office
Of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the
terms of the said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts of
this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the
signature of the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the
{ manner and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount
of $195,774.70 for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 42 per cent

per annum and to mature not later than December 1, 1955, and to be issued in such
amounts and at such time as moneyfor the
payment of the cost of such notes to be �

issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent
i
I
bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in force from and after its publication
once in the official city paper.
