AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with C. N. McCollum Construction
Company for the construction of certain main sewer and lateral sani-
tary sewers in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated as Lateral Sani-
tary Sewer Districts 302, 303, 3042 305 and Main Sewer "Z", and providing for the
issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of
bonds.
BE IT ORD?AIM by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance of the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal
of the C. N. McCollum Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "con-
tractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on September 13, 1954, which

is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract

awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed
on behalf of the City by its Mayor on September 2,7j, 1954, for the construction of
certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing man-
hole which is 20 feet east of the west line of Lewis
Avenue and on the center line of easement for utilities
first north of Ellsworth Avenue; thence east along the
center line of easement for utilities in Replat of
Block 4, Claflins Addition to the Grounds of Kansas
Wesleyan University, 570 feet where a manhoel will be
constructed which will be the terminus of Lateral
Sewer Number 302.
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning in a manhole in
Ohio Street and seven feet west of the center line of
Chio Street, and on the center line extended east of
the easement in Replat of Block 1, Claflins Addition
to the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University; thence
west along the center line of said easements in Blocks
1 and 2 of said Replat to a point 115 feet east of the
east line of Roach Street where a manhole will be con-
structed which will be the terminus of Lateral Sewer
Number 303.
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole 20
feet north of the south line of McAdams Road and on
the center line of Pearl Avenue; thence south along
the center line of Pearl Avenue 140.6 feet; thence
west along easement on the north line of Lot 12 of
the Ostenberg's Replat of Part of Blocks 1 and 2,
Hageman Park to the northwest corner of said Lot 12;
thence south along easement along the west lines of
Lots 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 of said Replat, to the
southwest corner of said Lot 16 where a manhole will
be built which will be the terminus of Lateral Sani-
tary Sewer Number 304.
An 8 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole seven
feet west of the center line of Ohio Street and on the
center line of easement in Block 2, Wymore's Addition;
thence west along the center line of easements in Block
1 and 2 of said Addition to a point 70 feet east of the
east line of Roach Street where a manhole will be con-
structed which will be the terminus of Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Number 305.
A 12 inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing man-
hole which is 10 feet west of the center line of Ohio
Street and east of thecenter line of utility easement
first north of Crawford Avenue; thence south parallel to
i and 10 feet west of the center line of Ohio to the center
line of McAdams Road, where a manhole will be constructed,
with a branch line beginning at said manhole and extending
I west with an 8 inch clay pipe sewer to the center line of
Pearl Avenue where the branch line will terminate, and
beginning at manhole to be so constructed in McAdams Road
and Ohio Avenue and extending south with a 10 inch clay
pipe sewer to the center line of easement extended east
first north of Claflin Avenue, there a manhole to be con-

same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated
cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on
file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimate is hereby referred to and
made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance
with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file

tractor and under the terms of said contract, all of which are hereby referred to
and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attest by the City
Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form

as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price of
$ -ki !o63.6o for such work, such notes to bear interest at not to
exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December 1, 1955' and

in lieu thereof.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from
and after its publication once in the official city paper.
