AN ORDINANCE calling a special election to be held by, in and for the City of
Salina, Kansas, on Tuesday, November 2, 1954, at the time of the regular General
Election, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said city,
the proposition of issuing the General Obligation Bonds of said city in an amount
not exceeding $80,000.00 for the purpose of raising funds to contribute money to
the Kansas Military Board for acquiring or constructing an armory for the Kansas
National Guard or Kansas State Guard, for said city.
WHEREAS., the City of Salina, Kansas, now has an organization of the Kansas National
Guard within its boundaries and may hereafter have an organization of the Kansas
State Guard therein, and the governing body of said city deems it wise and patriotic
to contribute money in an amount not to exceed $80,000.00 to the Kansas Military
Board for acquiring or constructing an Armory for said city and desires to issue
bonds and sell the same to raise money for such purposes as provided for by
Article Three of Chapter 48 of the General Statutes of Kansas of 1949, and amend-
ments thereto, and the general bond laws of the state; and
MAS, it is necessary that a special election be called to submit the prop-
osition hereafter set forth to the vote of the qualified electors of said city,
SO NOW,TMWORE,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That a special city election be, and the same hereby is called
to be held by, in and for the City of Salina, Kansas on Tuesday, November 21 1954,
at the time of the regular General Election, for the purpose of, and that then
and there, there will be submitted to the qualified electors of said city the
following proposition.
PROPOSITION: Shall the following be adopted?
Shall the governing body of the City of Salina, Kansas, be authorized to
issue the general obligation municipal bonds of said city in a sum not
to exceed Eightjx Thousand ($80,000.00) Dollars to raise funds to be con-
tributed to the Kansas Military Board for acquiring or constructing an
Armory for the City of Salina, Kansas, to be used by the Kansas National
Guard and the Kansas State Guard all as provided for by Article Three,
Chapter 48 of the General Statutes of Kansas of 1949 and amendments
thereto.
Section 2. Notice of said election shall be given as provided by law, which
and the official city paper
notice shall be duly published in the Salina Journal` a daily newspaper of general
circulation in said city, once each week for three consecutive weeks, the first
publication to be at least twenty-one days prior to the day fixed for said election.
Section 3. The place for holding said election shall be in the usual voting
places in the City of Salina, Kansas. Such election shall be held, and all things
pertaining to said election done, as provided by law.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and
after its publication in the official city paper, being the Salina Journal,
according to law.
