5892 Utility Tap ChargesORDINANCE NUMBER 5892 of , (Published in the Salina Journal __�. 7�e� Y��� c� 1954) AN ORDINANCE prescribing charges to be made for the tapping of water mains of the Water Department of the City of Salina, Kansas, and regulating the utilization by consumers of existing mains and mains that may hereafter be constructed or installed and amending Section 28-110 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1948, and providing for the repeal of the original of said section. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. 28-110 AME DN WT. That Section 28-110 Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1948, be and it is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 1. 28-110 Taps and Charges (a) The phrase, "lineal feet" where hereinafter used shall be deemed to refer to the foot frontage of the private property that may be served from any existing water main or water mains that may hereafter be installed by the Water Department of the City of Salina, Kansast In the event any such property is carved into lots irregularly shaped, then the lineal footage shall be deemed to refer to the mean width of any such irregular lot. (b) That whenever any person, firm, or corporation desires to obtain water service to any property --to or upon or for any property --not heretofore served with water by the Water Department of the City of Salina, Kansas, that as a condition precedent to the installation of such service, in addition to all other charges, a sum equal to $1.50 multiplied by the front footage of the property to be so served shall be paid unto the Water Department. The Department shall tap all mains or distribution lines, inserting a corporation cock and furnishing the union for the connection to the service line. A charge shall be made for each tap in addition to the sums aforesaid in the amount of $10.00 for 3/4 -inch corporation cocks and $12.00 for each one -inch corporation cocks. Larger sizes of corporation cocks may be authorized by the superintendent and the charges therefo$ shall be actual cost of installation plus 15% to be paid be to the Water Department when the service is izatn3tud applied for or the tap ordered. (c) No charge shall be made to property that can be served from paralleling installations in the event that the property to be so served has been a consumer of water from said Department antecedent to the effective date hereof. (d) It shall be the duty of any person applying for the provision of new service j of water from and after the effective date hereof to correctly state the lineal front footage of property to be thereby served. In the event of failure so to do the superintendent of the Waterworks is hereby direct to forthwith discontinue water service to any such property where the lineal front footage was misrepresented. Section 2. That Section 28-110, Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1948, be and it is hereby repealed. Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication once in the official city paper.
