ORDINANCE NUMBER 6051

AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company
for the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on certain
streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to
pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the
H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the `Contractor" as submitted
to the Board of Commissioners on April 17, 1956, which is hereby found to be the lowest and
best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city
to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on April 24, 1956, for the
construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
Paving and grading of Delaware Avenue, (twenty-eight (28)
feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with concrete
from the south line of Iron Avenue to the south line of
Stapler Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1619
and Ordinance Number 6047.
Paving and grading of Eleventh Street, (twenty-eight (28)
feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with concrete
from the north line of Lincoln Avenue to the South line
of Grand Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1636
and Ordinance Number 6047.
Paving and grading of Haven Avenue, (twenty-eight (28)
feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with concrete
from the east line of Duvall Avenue to the west line of
Steahlin Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1627
and Ordinance Number 6047.
Paving and grading of Johnstown Avenue, (twenty-eight (28)
feet from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with concrete,
from the east line of Columbia Avenue to the east line of
Kansas Avenue, as provided for by resolution Number 1600
and Ordinance Number 6047.
Paving and Grading of Lincoln Avenue, (twenty-eight (28)
feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with concrete
from the west line of Twelfth Street to the east line of
Thirteenth Street as,p:^ovided for by Resolution Number 1615
and Ordinance Num�ier 7.
Paving and grading of McAdams Road, (twenty-eight (28) feet
wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with concrete
from the east line of Roach Street to the west line of Pearl
Street, as provided for by Resolution Number 1610 and
Ordinance Number 6047.
Paving and grading of Roach Street, (twenty-eight (28) feet
wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with concrete,
from the north line of Martin Avenue to the south line of
Republic Avenue, as provided for by Resolution Number 1605
and Ordinance Number 6047.
Curbing, Guttering, Paving and Grading of Second Street
(thirty-three (33) feet back of curb to back of curb) with
concrete, from the north line of Crawford Avenue to the
south line of Prescott Avenue, as provided for by Resolution
Number 1611 and Ordinance Number 6047.

the south line of Decatur Avenue

tion Number 1612 and Ordinance Number 6047.
Paving and Grading of Viemont Avenue (twenty-eight (38)
feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) with con-
crete from the south line of Haven Avenue to the south
line of Beverly Drive, as provided for by Resolution
Number 1618 and Ordinance Number 6047.
j Curbing, Guttering and Grading of the south side of Haven
Avenue from the center line of Duvall Avenue to the center
line of Steahlin Avenue., as provided by Resolution Number
1628 and Ordinance Number 6047.
at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and con-
tractors hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby rati-
fied and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as
shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk,
which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2, Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the
(plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the
City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said
contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be
issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law,
the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $92,977.50, for such work, such notes
,to bear interest not to exceed 42 per cent per annum, and to mature not later than December
,1, 1957, and to be issued in such amounts and at such time as money for the payment of the
cost of such notes being issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the
time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption
and publication once in the official city paper.
