6004 Authorize Contract0 1 C ORDIANCE NUMBER 6001 (Published in the Salina JournalL_4L-h, t J ' , 1955) AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on certain streets! in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on October 11, 1955, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City of Salina, Kansas, by the Mayor on October 18, 1955, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: Curbing, guttering and grading of Franklin Street, from the center line of Shawnee Avenue to the center line of Hancock Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5996. Curbing, guttering and grading of Lewis Street, from the center line of McAdams Road to the center line of Mell- inger Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5996. Curbing, guttering and grading of Mellinger Street, from the east line of Roach Street to the west line of Ohio Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5996). Curbing, guttering and grading of Roach Street, from the center line of McAdams Road to the center line of Mell- inger Drive, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5996• Curbing, guttering and grading of the West Side of Broad- way Boulevard, beginning on the north directly east of the southeast corner of Banker's Addition thence south 318.2 feet more or less to a point directly east of the northeast corner of Block 8, Sunset Manor Addition, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5996• at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal, and con- tract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is ratified and confirmed, said prposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which esti- mates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans] and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the Office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of the said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance. Section a. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the signature of the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $98,612.80 for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 41 per cent per annum and to mature not later than December 1, 1956, and to be issued in such anounts and at such time as money for the payment i of the cost of such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at ?the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof. 1 Section 4.
