6002 Utility ImprovementsORDINANCE NUMBER 6002 (Published in the Salina Journals; .�- ` , 1955 ) AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 319, 320, 325, and 326, and providing for the issuance to temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the acceptance of the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor° as submitted to the Board of Commissioners on October 11, 1955, which is hereby found to be the lowest and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on October 18, 1955, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: a An eight -inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole which is 23 feet east of the west line of Front Street and 50.9 feet north of the north line of Lot 8, Block 3, Vantrine Addition; thence south easterly in East Prescott Road 172 feet and 10 feet north of the north- east corner of Lot 6, Block 3 the Replat of Garden Homes Addition; thence south along the center line of utility easement 305 feet to the northwest corner of Lot 10, Blcok 3, Replat of Garden Homes Addition at which place a manhole will be built with a stub to the northeast corner of Lot 1 and a stub to the northwest S corner of Lot 11 both being in Lot 3, Replat of Garden Homes Addition and this being the terminus of Lateral 319• An eight -inch clay pipe sewer beginning at an existing mahhole in Lewis Avenue which is 20 feet west of the east line of Lewis Avenue and 136.25 feet south of the south line of Claflin Avenue; thence with Branch 1 ex- tended east along center line of easement in Block 1 of Countryside Addition 318 feet where a manhole will be built, and Branch 2 which extendssouth from said exist- ing manhole 339.25 feet; thence east along the north line of easement in Block 2, Countryside Addition 318 feet where a manhole will be constructed which will be the terminus of Lateral 320. An eight -inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole to be constructed over an existing 24 inch sewer 9 feet west of the center line of Ohio Street and on the center line of alley first north of Greeley; thence east along center line of said alley 186 feet where a stub line will continue east 110 feet and a manhole will be built at the center of the intersection of said alley north of Greeley and first alley east of Ohio; thence north along center line of said alley east of Ohio Street 275 feet where a manhole will be built which't&11 be the terminus of Lateral 325• Branch No. 1. An eight -inch clay pipe sewer beginning at a manhole to be constructed on an eight -inch clay sewer stub, 5 feet west of the west curb on Front Street, 135 feet north of the center line of Prescott Avenue, at a bearing of North 70 East for 280 feet to a manhole to be constructed 35 feet south of south curb on Center Street; thence crossing Center Street at a bearing of North 500 30' East for 670 feet, crossing Kenwood Drive, to a manhole to be constructed east of east curb on Kenwood Drive; thence at a bearing of North 180 East to a manhole to be constructed; thence along east curb of Kenwood Drive at a bearing of North 430 30' East for 400 feet to manhole to be constructed; thence at a bearing of North 510 30' East for 580 feet to a manhole to be constructed, crossing street (Oakdale estended) 80 feet 1 1 west of manhole; Branch No. 2. Beginning at a manhole to be constructed 290 feet west of final manhole of _= Lateral No. 325 Branch 1 at a bearing of South 540 East for 487 feet, crossing street to manhole; Branch No. 3. Beginning at final manhole of Lateral No. 3226, Branch 2, at a bearing of North 470 East for 290 feet to a manhole to be constructed; thence at a bearing of North 240301 East for 360 feet to a manhole to be construded; thence at a bearing of North 670 East for 100 feet to a manhole a to be constructed which will be terminus of Lateral 326. at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and con- tract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as j shown by the sworn estimate of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk which estimate is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. i Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plan and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of said con- tract, all of which are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attest by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form as required by law, I the total amount thereof not to exceed the contract price of $191644.35 for such work, such j notes to bear interest at not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature not later than I December 1, 1956, and to be issued in such amounts and at such times as may the money for the i payment of the cost of such work be required, such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that Internal Improvement bonds are issued in lieu thereof. i Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official city paper.
