AN ORDINANCE relating to operator's licenses; providing for the issuance of restricted licen-
ses to certain minors and for suspension and reinstatement thereof.
BE IT ORDAINED BY the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1, 24-307. Issuance of Restricted Licenses to Certain Minors; Request For
Showing of Necessity. It is hereby requested that the Motor Vehicle Department of the Sate
of Kansas not issue operator's licenses to minors under the age of sixteen years except upon
a showing of necessity, as provided by G.S. 1949, 8-237, as amended by Chapter 50 of the

Laws of Kansas for 1955•
Section 2. 24-308. Applications For Restricted Licenses For Certain Minors Subject
to Approval By Chief Of Police. The applications of all parents or guardians of minors under
the age of sixteen years and at least fourteen years of age shall be forwarded to the Chief
of Police who shall mke a recommendation there on and such recommendation shall be forwarded,'
with the application, to the Motor Vehicle Department of the State of Kansas for appropriate
action by the Department in accordance with law; Provided, however, that the approval, so
given by the Chief of Police, may be withdrawn at any time upon proof being submitted to the
Chief of Police that any such minor has failed to use and employ such license in strict com-
pliance with state law.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
adoption and publication once in the official city paper.
