5975 Authorize ContractC J n ORDINANCE NUMBER 5975 (Published in the SALINA MURNAL� ��%_, 1955 ) AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on cer- tain streets in the City of Salina, And providing for the issuance of temproary notes to pay for the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of r the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as sub- mitted to the Board of Commissioners on July 12, 1955, which is hereby found to be the lowest; and best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City by its Mayor on July 19, 1955, for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: Curbing, guttering and paving with concrete 33 feet wide back of curb to back of curb, Chicago Street from the center line of Broadway Boulevard to the north right-of-way of the Union Pacific Railroad, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965• Curbing, guttering, paving and grading to a width of 28 feet, toe of gutter to toe of gutter, Connecticut Avenue from the north line of Stack Avenue to the north line of Greeley Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965• Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Decatur Street from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of Fifth Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Pershing Street, 33 feet from back of curb to back of curb with concrete, from the north line of Claflin to the north line of Cloud, as pro- vided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Charlotte Street 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete from the east line of Simmons Street to the east line of Ninth Street, as pro- vided for by Ordinance Number 5965• Paving and grading of Funston Street 28 feet from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete, from the south line of Sunset Drive to the south line of Ellsworth Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965• Paving and gradin- of G s -m Avenue from the East line of Wisconsin Avenue to the East line of Missouri Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Highland Avenue 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete from the north line of Charlotte Street to the north line of Leslie Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965• Paving and grading of Highland Avenue 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of Stter with concrete, from the south line of Cloud Street to the north line of Charlotte Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Larson Street, 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete, from the south line of Cloud Street to the south line of Charlotte Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Morningside Drive 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concre% from the east line of Sunrise Drive to the west line of Roach Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Simmons Street 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete, from the south line of Charlotte Street to the south line of Leslie Street, as provid- ed for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Simmons Street 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concret, from the south line of Cloud Street to the north line of Charlotte Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. { Paving and grading of Tenth Street 28 feetwide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete from the north line of Frost Street to the south line of Franklin Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965• w' Paving and grading of Larson Street 28 feet wide from toe of gutter totoe of gutter with concrete, from the north line of 3 Charlotte Street to the south line of Leslie Street, as pro- vided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Third Street 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete from the south line of Lamar Street to the north line of Lamar Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Third Street 28 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with reinforced concrete from the north line of Republic Avenue to the south line of Lamar Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, whichproposal and con- tractors hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown byjheEworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance. Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore prepared by the Qty Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms of y said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance. d, Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the workro resses in the manner and form as required b P g q y law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $307,302.60, for such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 41 per cent per annum, and to mature not later than December 1, 1956, and to be issued in such amounts and at such time as money forthe payment of the cost of such notes being issued to said contractor and to be redeemed and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof. Paving and grading with concrete 33 feet back of curb to back of curb Wisconsin Avenue from the south line of Iron Avenue to the north side of Gypsum Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Cloud Street 32 feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete from the west line of Ninth Street to the east side of Highway slab on U.S. 81 By- pass, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965. Paving and grading of Custer Street 28 feet from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete from the south line of Crawford Avenue to the south line of Republic Avenue, as provided for q by Ordinance Number 5965. Curbing, guttering and grading on the east side and the paving j 5 with six-inch reinforced concrete twenty )20) feet wide from j toe of gutter to toe of gutter to edge of slab West Place from the north line of University to the south line of State Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5965• at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, whichproposal and con- tractors hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance, be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown byjheEworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
