ORDINANCE NUMBER 5974

AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company
for the construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on certain streets
in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the
cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas:

Section 1. That the acceptance by the City of Salina, Kansas, of the proposal of
the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor" as submitted)
to the Board of Commissioners on July 12, 1955, which is hereby found to be the lowest and

best bid for such work, and the contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners of said city j
to said contractor and signed on behalf of the City of Salina bythe Mayor on July 19, 1955,
for the construction of certain public improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
Curbing, guttering and grading of Beloit Avenue, from the
center line of Lewis Avenue to the center line of Ohio
Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the north side of Claflin
Avenue from the center line of Lewis to the center line of
Ohio Street, as provided for by Ordiance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the north side of Crawford
Avenue from the center line of Whittinghill Avenue to the
center line of Viemont Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance
Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering of the north side of Crawford Avenue, from
the center line of Steahlin Avenueto the center line of
Whittinghill Avenue, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Duvall Avenue, from the
center line of Crawford Avnue to the center line of Haven
Avenue, as provided for by OrdJance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Kirwin Avenue from the center
line of Lewis Avenue to the center line of Tao Street, as
provided for by Ordinance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Lewis Avenue from the center
line of Jewell Avenue to the center line of Kirwan Avenue, as
provided for by Ordinance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading cf Mohawk Avenue from the center
line of Franklin Avenue to the north ine of Lot 23, Block 6,
Sunset Manor Addition extended West, as provided for by Ordi-
nance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the north side of Minneapolis
Avenue from the center line of Lewis Avenue to the center line
of Ohio Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of the south side of Republic
R Avenue from the center line of Lewis Street to the center
line of Ohio Street, as provided for by Ordinance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Shawnee Avenue from the center
line of Franklin Avenue to the north line of Lot 7, Block 2,
Sunset Manor Addition, extended West, as provided for by
Ordinance Number 5966.
Curbing, guttering and grading of Seminole Avenue from the
center line of Franklin Avenue to the North line of Lot 13, i
Block 4, Sunset Manor Addition, extended west, as provided j
for by Ordinance Number 5966.

at and for the unit price for said work contained in said proposal, which proposal and con-
tract are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, be and the same is ratified
and confirmed, said proposal being within the estimated cost of said improvements as shown
by the sworn estimates of the City Engineer on file in the office of the City Clerk, which
estimates are hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2. Said improvements shall be built and constructed in accordance with the
plans and specifications therefore prepared by the City Engineer on file in the Office of
the City Clerk and in accordance with the proposal of said contractor and under the terms
of the said contract, all of which are hereby referred to and made parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. That temporary notes signed by the Mayor and attested by the signature
of the City Clerk be issued from time to time as the work progresses in the manner and form
as required by law, the total amount thereof not to exceed the amount of $307,302.60 for
such work, such notes to bear interest not to exceed 42 per cent per annum and to mature
not later than December 1, 1956, and to be issued in such amounts and at such time as money
for the payment of the cost of such notes to be issued to said contractor and to be redeemed
and cancelled at the time that permanent bonds are issued in lieu thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in force from and after its publication once in
the official city paper.
