AN ORDINANCE providing for the construction of a pumping station for the purpose of pumping
ithe sewage of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353 and extensions thereof into the existing sewer
located north of Oakdale Drive in the north and sou!tk alley in Bloak 15, Cunningham;s replat id
order to conduct the sewage of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353 to a point of outlet and providing
(for the payment of the cost thereof.
WHEREAS, the City of Salina,has by ordinances provided for the construction maintenance and
operation of its sewer system and of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353 for the purpose of
disposing of sewage in such district, and
WHEREAS, on account of the elevation it is impracticable and too expensive to excavate in
connection with such sewer so as to dispose of the sewage of said Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number
353, and
WHEREAS, in order to provide an outlet for the sewage Df Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353, it,
is necessary in the judgement of the governing body of the City of Salina, to construct a
pumping station for the purpose of pumping the sewage of such Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353!
into the present exicting sewer located at the north of Oakdale Drive in the north and south
alley in Block 15, Cunningham's replat in 6rder to conduct the sewage of said Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Number 353 to a point of outler, SO NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That the preambles hereof are hereby incorporated herein, That a pumping
station for the purpose of pumping sewage of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353 and extensions
thereof to the sewer now existing north of Oakdale Drive in the north and south alley in Block
prepare and file in the office of the City Clerk, plans and specifications for the construction
of the pumping station provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance and shall be of the proper
character and at the proper location to pump the sewage of said Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number

replat, so as to conduct the sewage of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353 and extensions thereof,
to a point of outlet as a part of the sewage disposal system of the City of Salina, Kansas, and
shall on or before said date prepare and submit to the Board of Commissioners under oath detailed
estimates of the cost thereof and that thereafter the City Clerk_ shall advertise for three con-
secutive days in the official city paper for sealed proposals for the building and construction
of such pumping station according to such plans and specifications, which proposals shall be filed
with the City Clerk on or before the time fixed in such notice, at which time the Board of
Commissioners may let a contract for the building and construction of such pumping station to
the lowest and best responsible bidder therefore; provided that such bids shall not exceed the
ie:>timated cost thereof and provided further that said Board shall reserve the right to reelect

estimated cost said Board may proceed and build such pumping station within such extimated costa

Section 2.
That the
City Engineer
shall on or before the
13th day of November 1956,
prepare and file in the office of the City Clerk, plans and specifications for the construction
of the pumping station provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance and shall be of the proper
character and at the proper location to pump the sewage of said Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number

replat, so as to conduct the sewage of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353 and extensions thereof,

Section 3. That for the payment of the cost of such work the building and sonstruction
of said pumping station, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kaaaa.s, shall issue
improvement bonds of Chid city,in an amount not to exceed the total cost of such work and
improvements, to be payable in ten approximately equal annual installments and to bear interests

at not to exceed 5% per annum for the date of such bonds, and for the purpose of paying such
bonds and interest as they severally mature, the Board of Commissioners shall annually levy a
tax upon all real and personal property in the City of Salina in an amount sufficient to pay
the annual inbtallments of such principal and interest, and pending issuance and sale of such
bonds, temporary notes shall be issued according to law, to pay the cost of such work.
Section 4. That before the pumping station herein provided for shall be constructed, the
plans and specifications therefore shall firat be submitted to the department of the Board of
Health of the State of Kansas and be approved by such department.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its
publication and adoption in the official city paper.
